The weekend brought some lovely weather so I thought I would take the opportunity to wash the car and take some pics :)

I picked up my car back on 14th Jan but due to the horrible weather we were having I was not able to get any decent pics of it to post up.

I went for a Leon FR TDI 184ps with the following spec:
- Technic Grey
- 18" Performance Alloys
- Technology Pack
- Convenience Pack
- Winter Pack
- LED Interior Pack
- SEAT Sound with Spare Wheel

I ordered the car back in Oct 2013 and had to wait 12 looong weeks before taking delivery, but the wait was certainly worth it. The car is just brilliant to drive, the new diesel engine is quiet and very refined and is very willing to pull in all gears. The handling is very good, especially as you accelerate out of a bend, the car just grips. I also find the FR suspension is very good and not at all hard, compared to my A3 S-Line, which I previously had, the ride in the Leon is alot more comfortable. I actually look forward to my commute to work nowadays

I have so far done the following mods, with the help of other member's threads on here, no doubt this list will probably grow in the future ;)

- VCDS mods
- Chrome cap for main Key fob
- Installed Cupra/Golf GTI Aluminium Pedals
- Changed Exterior Bulbs to LED (Indicator & Reverse lights)
- Changed Glovebox and Boot lights to LED (only 2 things that didn't get LED in the LED Interior Pack  )
- Changed MDI iPod cable with a red collared cable for displaying album artwork and video playback whilst car is stationery.
- Door Lock Protective Cover Kit
- Changed heated washer jets to fan style ones
- Rubber boot liner for the boot
- Bought mobile phone non slip mat to trim out the storage area under armrest & cubby hole under heater controls so that things don't move around!

Mods which I'm thinking about:
- Mudflaps for front and rear
- Rear Spoiler - not so sure about this one now as the painted and fitted price is now £399!! :wtf:

Cheers for reading :)

A J

Nice pics. I like the pedals too.
Have you done any detailing?

Washed mine the weekend andctried to polish and seal but ran out of time. I want to look after the paintwork as I never have had such a new car

Nice looking car seeing this and the red it just makes my life harder to choice which colour to go for haha..
Oh how is the seat sound?
As for pedals nice where did you get them from?

Thanks for your comments Guys :)

I bought the pedals from here
I also bought the chrome key cap from there too to maximise the postage I paid (IIRC the postage was approx £8) :D

Hi Mike, the car hasn't been detailed. I just washed it with Autoglym shampoo and then rinsed and applied Autoglym Aqua Wax afterwards and dried off, it's easy for me ;)

I have been reading detailing threads with interest as I too would like to look after the car's paintwork but as I'm new to detailing not sure what to go with to protect the paintwork, I guess a sealant of some sort? need to do more reading, lol

Car looks great, really like the Technic Grey, for me if i go for an FR it will be that or Red. If i stretch to the Cupra it can only be Red :D

So many choices for protecting your lovely paint. You seem an Autoglymn guy so i would go for Super Resin Polish after the wash, followed by Extra Gloss Protection if you have time. Should bead well and last a good few washes. Most importantly be gently when you wash the car, use a mitt rather than a sponge and i always rinse with a steady stream of water from a watering can (take the rose off) or an open hose, this will help the water to sheet meaning that you will not have to manually dry most of the car (certainly after applying the EGP). Using 2 buckets one to rinse the mitt after every use will help cut down on swirl marks too;)

Thanks for your reply Rob, I have been reading about the details for the Cupra and it certainly sounds like a beast! :)

Thanks for the tips, I really appreciate it and will definitely be looking into it, I use the Aqua Wax atm as its easy and you can apply the wax on to a wet surface so is not so time consuming. Any tips on how to apply the polish and EGP? Sorry for sounding thick but you would apply the resin polish first, then straight after you can apply the EGP or do you need to wait? :)

Also are there better products which I should consider, Autoglym works for me but like I said I'm a novice at all this detailing stuff so open to suggestions as I'm running low on the current washing supplies and will need to replenish soon. So if Autoglym is ok, then I will visit Halfords soon as they have a 3 for 2 on atm for Autoglym stuff, so would be perfect for my needs! :D

AJ thanks to yours and a few other posted photos I made the decision 4 weeks ago to switch my order from Monsoon to Technik Grey. There was always a nagging doubt in my mind (have I made the right decision to change) but having seen these photos and those from ibizasc-chris I know it was right.

Be interested to see how it looks after a couple of trips out in the rain compared to the black Exeo that I am currently driving.

For those interested in the Pedal Caps, I also have bought these from the same site. Like AJ, I went for them with 2 Chrome Key Caps rather than buying separately.
All in with postage it came just under £85.
I think mine should arrive tomorrow so all in about 10 days to deliver but I believe it's longer as we would be ordering RHD Pedal Caps.

I can't see me getting the car for a few weeks yet (due to be built this week) but at least I will be able to admire the Pedal Caps in the box until it arrives.

I got autoglym stuff from halfords the other day. Have been reading up on detailing, does get bit confusing after a while. I think it comes down to personal choice, how much time you want(or got) to spend and cost of products. Resin polish first then sealant. You can wax after the sealant. You can do this all in one session. Then top up with quick detailer after each wash. This is root I am trying. Seems straight forward and not too time consuming.
Perhaps later in year before winter comes back spend a bit more time and though into protecting paintwork.

Looking good Aj, plenty nice days to come, you'll have a polishing arm like Popeye soon enough :)

Binned my AG SRP today, sick of the mess it leaves, looking for an alternative. I might be putting too much on but we've fell out again and thats that.

Sorry Weeally, I forgot to answer your question on SEAT Sound :)
The upgraded sound system is excellent in my opinion, I will certainly be ticking that option again. The sound is very clear and the bass is punchy, I only have it turned up to a little over a third and it is loud enough for me. So I would highly recommend it if the budget is there. Decisions when purchasing a new car is a pain sometimes...but a nice pain ;)

Chris, no problem - glad that I could help you decide as I was originally like you. Just noticed in your signature that we will have they same spec car except yours will be a ST version. Good choice in spec, ;)

Mike, detailing certainly does sound complicated :) I think I will go with what you and Rob have suggested and will do the resin polish and then sealant and see how that goes. What is a quick detailer after each wash, is this a different product? Sorry if its a noob question.

Thanks Andy, also popeye arm lol. You had issues with the resin polish then, is it messy to apply then?

It was an old bottle Aj, dont like the white residue/dust it leaves, I have trouble clearing it too, maybe I put it on too thick or dont leave long enough before wiping, who knows, I'm for a change anyway. I'm sure the AG SRP make up was changed and the powder is no longer an issue, my bottle was 5yrs+ old, maybe someone could clarify as I might be making this up as I go along :D

I think the resin polish has improved. Didn't leave any residue when I did mine the other day. I did try not to put too much on (a mistake I have made in the past)

Btw your message box is full Aj ;)

Thanks for the prompt Andy! :)

Thanks for clarifying, Mike. I will give this a try then as my Aqua Wax has almost finished. A trip to Halfords this weekend I think

try britemax all in one or zaino all in one they both polish and seal at same time

probably be cheaper than buying 2 different autoglyms and likely to be better result too

Sealant then Autoglym Hi Def for me. Used on 2 cars . Good beading easy to apply. Doing long term test on this and collinite and Turtle wax. So far Collinite and Hi Def are out front after all the rain and a few washes
I installed the mudflaps and have not regretted it with all the muck we get round here they have provided some protection. Just wish they were a little longer to protect more of the sill and rear bumper.

Hi dephead2004 when you get some time can you get a picture of the mudflaps please. I want to see how they look. I had them on my altea didn't notice them much just worried they might stand out on leon especially mine as it is white. Thanks
