My CR is only 3 weeks old (today!) and I haven't added any oil yet. I've got some Audi synthetic oil that I never opened from the Ausi S3 225 that I used to own, I presume it's the same grade, etc in this engine?!

Check with your dealer first as I was told that the oil in the LCR is a 'special running in' oil thats changed at the first service- different part number to normal. I asked him if I could use normal oil for topping up and he said definately not. There are some codes on the bottle I'll post a piccy if you need one :)

Had my 1st service a few months ago and the bloody stealers charged me about £130 and not even a valet in sight, the tight fisted :censored:

Where did you get yours done? My first service is due in Jan and I'm undecided on which stealer should get the honour of my whinging.

If you haven't already done it, then ask your dealer for discount from all parts and labour. I asked on the basis of huge mileage therefore regular servicing and without a haggle got an credit account and 20% off all parts and labour.

When I asked the local VW dealership the same question for the wifes Golf GTI which only does 12kmiles per year, they also gave me discount.

Think all the stealers know they are taking the mick on servicing costs and will do anything to keep your business afterall servicing is about the only thing they make profit from these days.

If you don't ask you don't get !

Does My Service Have To Be Done At An Authorised Seat Garage To Keep It In Warrenty

Nope.

As long as the garage that is doing it is VAT registered, carries out the service to the spec laid down by SEAT and they use parts made in the Eu its just fine, wont effect your warranty at all.

I work at a Skoda garage and weve done a few SEAT services recently as the local SEAT dealer is shocking.

£118.62 for my first one just dug out the invoice but i wouldnt recomend them, a poor dealer in warrington..oops.
Got my second next week 19K £161.77 all in at Hobbins in Preston will see how they perform

Hobbin are a great dealer, brillant service and very helpful. I got my car from there.
However, there service prices are bit weird....mine went in for a 2year 20k service and 12 month check. Mines only a 1.4s

Lucky for me i rang seat dealer in lancaster and they quoted me £126, went to hobbin to enquire and book it in, they quoted me £165 for the same service :-o
told the guy on service desk that lancaster dealer said £126, he goes are you sure etc, i said ring them if you like.
Got his calculator out and typed some digits in etc and goes best price I can do for you is £135
so just dropped £30 off in a couple of mins, as its local to me, i dont mind paying £9 extra and save time and journey to lancaster and back.

Make sure he gives you that price in writing and puts it on record for when you take the car in.

Otherwise a superb dealer.

Had mine done today at Willoughby - £100.26 plus an exterior clean - they quoted £120.

Took the car in a 8:30 and received a phone call at 11:00 stating it was done.
Pretty happy with that

Have always had friendly service from my dealer too, although the prices sound similar to you STOKOE.

My first service was £80something. Pretty much just an oil/filter change, and a wash and vacuum, at LC Charles in Crewe, but then its a Diesel. Great service, courtesy car, a play with an Ibiza FR and lots of free coffee, and a courtesy call the next day to ask if the service was ok and if my car was running ok.

SEAT have changed the names of services, there is a big difference between an "Inspection Service" and an "Oil Change Service"
The "Inspection Service" has a lot more checks on it and takes longer. They both have new oil filter and new oil and they are the only parts that are changed.
To make services cheaper, take your own oil (it might be a pain but will save you £££s), ask that they dont top up the screen wash (some garages charge £3.00 for this) and ask that they dont use any addatives (petrol addative and engine flush can add £20.00 to a bill)

If you book you car in for a service, the garage should ask you the questions and give you the options. If you have had the car 6 months and done 10,000 miles then they should be offering an "oil change service" if you take your own oil, you would just be paying for a filter, a sump plug washer and about half an hours worth of time.

If you have had the car 11 months and done 8,000 miles then you should be offered an inspection service (this is like a yearly check + oil and filter change)

Dealers make thier money from the extras like the addatives, flushes and high oil prices. You do not have to have them and you can bring your own oil.

(I know as i work at a dealers)

Hope this helps you all.
If you have any questions feel free to ask

So you're saying that if I book a service that includes an oil and filter change, I should then also expect to have to pay for the oil on top?

'round my way we call that theft.

Just booked mine in for its 12 mths inspection at Premier Stoke for £126 all in, so I'll probably call them to see which oil they use and if not Syntha Gold I'll be taking my own. I've also managed to get a set of front LCR pads at a very good price as I reckon they might need doing as well

Sorry for my ignorance, but on reading this string I am confused. My LC is coming up on the 10,000 mark so is going in for a service. Its 12 months old in a couple of weeks. What service will I need a 12 month service or 10,000 mile service  . Sorry again for sounding stupid, also whats the difference??
