I sent 2 emails yesterday for quotes for my first service as I am away overseas at the minute. I emailed trenton in Hull as I will be there next week and thought it would be cheaper than my local dealer in watford(london rip off prices) Watford should be replying today. Trenton in hull are quoting £172 incl parts and labour for first service using semi synthetic oil or £202 using fully synthetic oil. :censored: :censored: WTF is that all about. What does the first service actually consist of. £172 they are surely having a giraffe :censored:. Someone please tell me they know a better place than that in north london/watford area. I wait with baited breath for the watford qoute to arrive today.

Had my first 10k service today. Cost 128.00.

They have a split charge system, one for high milage users and one for annual.

Annual one was 207.00

Garage was Stoneacre Seat in Milton Keynes.

Whoa  £120, I'd rip your hand off at that price after suffering the servicing costs on my car, hence I'm getting the Cupra R, last inspection 1 service ended up costing me near on £1700!!! :censored: :censored:

about £800 for the service/inspection 1, and then needed 4 new tyres, rear brakes, 1 door seal and several bushes. Needless to say I had most of the additional work done at a mates garage and still came to around that figure............... anyone want to buy an M3 ?? ;) :p ??

Inspection or RIP OFF??!

sorry to drag this up again (but saves another thread:)

my car (petrol FR) is due for its first service in a few weeks , as its done less than 10,000 miles (currently only 7K) I have been recommended to the annual service but what a rip off, been quoted £195 including all parts , labour, etc for Annual Inspection or its £145 for just oil and filter 10K service. What exactly does the annual Inspection include?? I know its a checklist of points which will take time i.e money to do...

Is it cheaper to take own oil, if so what/where is best place to buy it?
Or if we reach 10k before 12months opt for the cheaper 10k one?

I don't get this Inspection thing..the other high miler cars don't they have to do the Inspection thing...Looks to me someones trying to make a lot of money by charging low mileage drivers for nothing as they use the dealers a few months after higher mileage cars...

12 months service are more expensive than 10k. Think the garage wanted to change me about £125 for a 12 month

They are the same service unless the 10K comes up a lot sooner than 1 year - see Hicks post in this thread

Another stupid question, but if its the same why is one more expensive than the other?

If you do 10K miles in less than 1 year (generally 9 months or less) then you can get away with a lube (oil change service) without the inspection

You have been quoted correctly for the service

If your car is 1 year old or does 10K miles in about 1 year the service will be the same, oil and oil filter change and all the inspections (levels/brakes/lights/wipers/leaks etc). If you do 10K in much less than 1 year then your 1st service should be a lube (oil change and oil filter) only with a few basic checks (cambelt / brakes) if required

Personally i'd always go for the full inspection service at 12 month intervals with oil changes every 6 months irrespective of mileage (unless your doing something daft like 30k/year).

Prices vary a lot between dealers so worth shopping around.

Cheers for that.

Just had a quote from another SEAT dealer for the Inspection they are charging £135 fully inc. (saving of £60!) gosh, prices sure do vary.

Care to elaborate where you got the quotes from? I'm coming up to my annual service in June, will have done about 7k by then.

Well, I'm due in June too, my first quote was from Leicester, second quote (cheaper) was from Premier Seat in Leek, note not Premier in Stoke on Trent -who haven't returned my call.

Sods law that one then - i'm in Leicester. Francis SEAT is where I bought the car. Apparently they do offer very good service, have always found them very helpful, but also charge for it by the sound of it.
