My first real post and to say Hi!

I purchased a Mk1 LCR - AMK for the intention of doing a few winter track days.
(my dry car is a stripped our Golf Mk2 with ABF)
Since buying it I have replaced nearly everything, clutch (SMF), cam belt, oil pick up, brakes, brake lines, poly buses, all fluids.... etc...
it has also been upgraded with alloy rad, oil cooler, Gaz gold suspension, revo stage 2, FMIC, EBC yellow, exhaust, coil packs etc,,,,

The track day was on Saturday 22nd (very very wet) the car is running the new Nankangs NS2R tyres and close to competition spring rates.

Well what can I say the car was epic! apart from struggling to get any traction in the first 4gears it was a great day and I am a convert!
What a great car!
Unfortunately now I have some new items on my shopping list!
The first is a diff! if anyone knows of a LCR box being sold with one in then please give me a shout.

also a thank you to the guys on here as I had to revert back to a number of threads to complete the jobs to get the car up and running! removal of air con and belt length as just one!

sorry cannot add the link for the pictures,,

Would be interested to know what radiator you got and wether that was actually needed?

Also, any oil cooler pics?

Appreciate the fact that you can't actually put up pics till you have 15 posts though lol

Hi, I went for a 16 row oil cooler. it is mounted directly behind the seat badge.
I used the flexible push on pipe as I have the braided hoses on the golf and I am found them to be too ridged. If I make a few more posts I can add a few snaps.

the rad was an after through, due to me putting a big hole in it while stripping the front down! at that point though it was better to upgrade.
has the torque app on mates phone all day and the temp was perfect!
not sure how this will compare to one of the summer track days.
with the golf there was a significant reduction in oil temp when fitting the cooler.

just very impressed with the car, it was a bit of a punt but now it will be getting the full works!
Diff, seats, cage next!!! lol
do any of the guys on here ever arrange track days?

There's definitely a few people who have taken the car on track but not many. Will be taking mine to the Ring and Combe next year hence my interest.

Your a brave man, both very complex and unforgiving locations.
have you done any track days?
I started at the basics, stopping, cornering then power.

got to say my little golf was running at 170 bhp the LCR could be anywhere from 250 - 270 bhp
it was a big chang throwing something that much heavier around the track.

Keep going lol.

Done quite a few track days mainly Combe and brands hatch but that was in an accord type r. Been to the nurburgring 3 times so far, twice in my old modified 850 t5 and once in the accord.

If the accords taught me anything it's that power isn't everything! I'm sure you're on the right road going for the diff, once I get the basics done on mine I'm sure I'll be after one myself. It'll take a while though, I've already spent shitloads on the bloody car!

grandma and sucking eggs comes to mind!
I love brands! I can pedal my little golf round at a fair rate! (in the dry that is)

I am very happy with the leon, with the set up I have it was very neutral and easy to drive. this is the first wet trackday I actually enjoyed!
tell me about spending money! I have replace just about all the bit on the car! even the poxy clutch!
my budget track car is anything but! which is why I am now going full hog!

grandma and sucking eggs comes to mind!

Don't get the wrong idea, if I was any slower some of the trucks and coaches you see at the ring would overtake me!

Apart from the actual coilovers, what else have you done chassis wise?

I went to Bedford again in October and it precipitated a lot, so I cheated and used my set of wets, only got overtaken twice all day however the same track cost me a gearbox in the dry in may. Cracked the teeth in the diff, they don't like 100mph one wheel spins
I also really need to sort my oil cooler, keep seeing the oil temps creeping over 130 degrees

Oil cooler was quite a straight forward job, as I said I would go push on and flexible hoses. you can route over the top of the rad.
not liking the sound of the box going bang!
I killed the clutch in 3 laps, using slicks on my first attempt at a track day in the LCR.
In the WET the mine was spinning nearly to the end of 4th!

what power is yours running? any other mods to the brakes?
chassis is just gaz gold, more than good enough for me, might look at the white line ARB at some point.
looking to go DS 2500 pads once I kill the yellow stuff.

let get a track day going,,, really confuse the photographer!!

Quick one, just seen you managed to get 3 degs of negative camber?
how did you manage? as I can get now where near this on the slotted ball joint?

I have slicks but not actually used them yet, saw an m3 roll in front of the paddock earlier this year and im not running a cage yet
Mine is just a stage 2 at the moment so 270 horses
Im planning on fitting my oil cooler in a different places as ive routed my FMIC pipework differently but I will be using swaged fittings I will have made my a local hydraulics firm
My current brake setup is a sore point and the less said about it the better
I have adjustable top mounts as well for setting camber and caster

I was at a brands open track event a couple of months back, an e36 rolled! Lucky they were all ok.
Any chance of details and pictures of top monts as want to change on mine!
Let's get lcr track day going!! Lol

I'd love to organise a SCN Leon trackday, a few of us did speak about it at inters acouple of years ago however some have sold/broken their cars since then.
I'd be up for almost making a weekend of it and stopping over in the evening for too many drinks whilst chatting about our escapades
The top mounts are the silverline ones I got in a group buy a while back, they do however bring a lot of noise into the cabin and feel the pot holes etc more

count me in!!! any excuse to play on the track!

nice one will have a look at the top mounts my other idea involved cutting the existing return off and fitting a flat mount from the underside, as completed on my golf.

where is best to buy? ebay?
