well i started at 3:30 today. i was searching all over for an opening to feed the pipe through to the engine could find anything so then after an hour looked by the divers side wiper and found a bung so drilled an hole and fed it through. by this stage it was pitch black and i had to stop.

just a bit confsed with the wiring. dont know where to wire it to on the lights ass my gauge has 4 wires.

im not going to connect it to the dump vavle as i cant find it ive read you can connect it to the fgr vavle or somthing is it on the front of the engine by the injecters.

anyway better luck tomorrow

BCM - I know you are only really kidding, but you have to start somewhere!! I have owned c lassic minis since I was 16 (3 years ago) and 6 months before I got it, I knew nothing of the mechanicals of a car really, let alone the Mini. A month after getting the mini, the engine was out, re-built and re-fitted. The suspension was re-built and the wiring was re-placed.

A year later, I baught a (pretty much scrap) Mini Van for about £50 which I completely re-built from the ground up, including a DIY paint job. Oh and by the way, I just sold the van for 4k!

So, without wanting this to sound like a rant - because it really isn't! I just want to say that I, amongst others may sound like complete novices (which I certainly am with the Leon), give us some time to learn!

I know mate, chill, just takin the piss, just found it funny, i'm on my 3rd bottle of black tower and your comment made me laugh.

No disrespect but a Mini is not exactly hard to work on, respect to you tho for doing it, i know i couldn't be arsed with it.
Leons not that hard to work with mate, but theres loads of guys on here that can point you in the right direction, me included!
I'm no expert but pretty confident with my way round the car.

Couple of guides on here for the Boost Gauge mate, i've even done a wee write up myself. i couldn't get through the bonnet release cable gromet, har to find another route, mine was in the passenger footwell aout a foot down the bulkhead, has to run it through there, wiring is just straight into the light/dimmer unit on the drivers side.

Good Luck tho!

Pretty sure you said its the halfords auto gauge that you have and yeah theres loads of wires on the back lol Me and dan (s1 pru) wired mine up along with the oil temp gauge and it was a little bit of a brain teaser. One wire will go to the dimmer on the lights, another on the lights themelves, one to an earth point on the engine block and i think there could possibly be another ground cable and a power cable but not sure if that comes from the headlihgt feed. Just do one cable at a time and make sure you get the crimps around the car wiring and the gauge wire nice and secure as they can be a pain if they come loose then you have to check them all again lol godluck mate. Just take your time and do it one at a time and don't loose your rag either lol.
