Fitting a CD player to a 2000 Ibiza vibe

Hi,

I recently bought a 2000 Ibiza which has a radio/cassette and CD headchanger control as part of the heating display consol. I want to be able to fit an ordinary CD player somewhere in the car, so that I can select and change CDs as I am driving. I don't want a multi-changer in the boot or eslsewhere in the car for the same reason and as these are too bulky and require two hands to operate. My local Seat dealer and car hi fi place say that it isn't possible to add a separate CD, which is a bit bizarre. Does anyone have any suggestions? I don't want to have to change the car, just because I can't play CDs.

Cheers

Hi David,

I've done a fair bit of searching but the best I could find was a recommendation to a place called CAI near Luton who can do it. I'm in Cambridge so it is a bit of hike. If you can point me to any easy to understand thread (I am a novice in both this forum and car mechanics/electronics, that'd be great.

Cheers

Eddie

What ive done tonight is take the origional wirinng and split it and made it goto an aftermarket headunit sitting underneith my steeringwheel. So that the standard headunit didnt play music, i didnt plug in the speaker wires into that unit.

Works well, took a few hours and a fair bit of wiring but will save a load of hastle in the long run when fittins amps.

yeah thats where most people put it,i have still got a main head unit work the tape and radio, and the single slot cd player in the glove box,

i have been pricing the cd changers up for months and second hand ones were selling for £70.00,i like single slots better
