Hi
I'm currently trying to fit my head unit to my new Leon mk1.
I've removed the standard head unit and the central dash trim. I fit the little cage into the slot but I cant fit the central trim back on as it gets in the way of cage. I can't leave it without the cage as it would just be loose in the slot.

Am I doing something wrong?

what trim are you talking about?when you remove the headunit you dont need to remove any trim.if your talking about the fascia you require you need to fit that first then the cage, the cage holds the fascia in place

When you say sentre trim consoul do you mean the titanium/black trim from the top of the dash to down around the ash tray? If so you don't need to remove this to take out the old or fit a new radio, I'm assuming you have the facia adaptor for a new single din seized unit or are you replacing with a different standard unit?

Assuming your replacing the OE Seat for an after market, the old slides out, the facia adaptor slides into place, I believe there were two types, one with a thin surround and two blanking plates either end, the other two sperate blanking plates which screwed into place (but i could be getting all confused with the A3, A4 MKIV Golf etc). Once the facia adaptor is in you cage slides in tabs down and slide new unit in.

I know when i first gor mine someone had removed the centre sonsoul surround and had not fitted it correctly which left a gap around the climate controls screen, i just refitted it and it all went back properly first time.

I'm trying to cover all angles here as its not entirley clear what your doing/mean. But it sounds like you don't have the facia adaptor, which you should be able to get from Halfords or local audio place for 10-15quid odd

Yes it just wont fit pass the bit of plastic with the trox screws that hold the trim that goes from the top to the ash tray. Not to worry I think the metal cage thing has seen better days so I've ordered a brand new head unit :D I've also got the facia adaptor.

Thanks for the help.
