FK Coilover question

I've recently got a set of FK Highsports. The instructions are in German. Everything about them is pretty straightforward, but they have 4 rubber washers in a packet, and I'm unsure where they go. Anyone got any ideas?

Also, is it worth getting a set of dust covers from seat for the front shocks?

Do you mean these?

I left them attached when I first fitted my coilovers (1 above and 1 below the bump stop) but it made the ride really stiff as they reduce the dampers travel to almost nothing. Since removing them the ride is much less stiff.

Dust covers is a good idea but I'm not sure how well standard ones would fit on to the strut top.

That's the ones but mine were just in a packet so I wasn't exactly sure where they went. I think if you have quite a high ride height, they may be useful. I'll leave them out and see how it goes.

I think I'll try the standard dust covers but cut them down a bit

Ive been looking at the FK sport edition plus coilovers. Seen a few peeps going for them, interested to see how you find your FK coilies.

Tbh I only really took them as I got a really good deal. They wouldn't be my first choice. And on uk roads, they'll rust pretty quick. I'm going to paint mine and I'll only b going slightly lower than standard so they'll do a job I guess

They're not the most refined coilovers. I wouldn't buy FK coilovers again that's for sure.

I painted my struts with Hammerite to protect them

Cheap shite then :( i knew the price seem too good to be true.

What would you go for now then?

Do you have other mods? I don't think you have from memory, so if not then I'd get a full set of super pro bushes, whiteline front and rear anti roll bars, camber adjusted, and then koni shocks with eibach springs

I wish they were cheap. My set cost nearly £600 new! They lower the car really well and I'm sure they would be great on a track, but on the type of roads that I drive on you soon get tired of being jaulted around.

So in answer to your question, I doubt I'd fit coilovers to any road car that I own.

200bhp p torque stage one, front strut brace. Only mods. But a recent trip to the isle of man had a devastating effect on the suspension. So big plans are afoot to get it sorted. DPM has some nice looking AP coilies on there.

Plus 20mm rear spacers to the stuff you mentioned.

The FK ones im looking have have adjustable dampers rate though.

So do mine (Konigsports) The softest level leaves the car too bouncy and the hardest level is like driving without suspension! I've got mine set in the middle which gives a good level of dampening.

Tbh I think the springs are the problem with FK kits. As you can see in this photo

The front setup has a main spring (quite small when compared to Weitech and AP springs) coupled with a 'helper' spring which is constantly compressed when the weight of the car is on it. The shocks are Koni so are good quality. Perhaps If I replaced my springs with Eibach ones the ride would improve?
