Just got a 3-button one for mine, and it works fine. Just need to get it cut. Hoping timpsons aren't going to be gay about it!

could i ask one or some of you a favour ?on behalf of the site really.
how about doing a "how to" for the data base?use all the info on here and use some images to do a blow by blow account of how things are done.
As this works on many cars within the marque it could and would be a cracking guide.
not that this thread isn't a great help, but 43 pages is a bit much to read through.
And i'm sure the admin would agree ;)

right, all done, thanks mainly to you guys and chemical al(another beer i owe you mate ).i now have a fully working flip key,but no back badge as yet ( cheers again al;) ) looks mint and works a treat (now).

Woohoo!!!!

Cheers for trying it first.. :D

I think the instructions are on one of the first couple of pages. :)

Amendment to the title would be an idea, something like *Instructions on post #xxx"

Guys can i double check...

ive got a 433mhz key on my New Leon FR TDI (mk1)

and im gonna get a 434mhz key.....it will work wont it? im sure i tried this before and it was all fine, people said the mhz makes no difference..

Cheers

after trying to find some info out and with lots of different things about i decide to try and help people out by compiling all the stuf i used and found out to swap to a flip key
1 you will need a vw skoda or seat flip key with two buttons of ebay or anywhere with the mhz rating as your key. most prob 434mhz like mine and some are 433mhz and harder to get hold of.
2 try and get one with a blank blade
3 get that cut to your car at security place or somwhere that casn cut these keys
4 to change the imobillisor chip you need to seperate the flip key top and botton
5 then remove the badge( took me ages to figure out why i couldnt slipt the top bit!) you will then see a small screw undo this then the key will open up to reveal a little cylindrical chip.
6 you then need to open up your spare key the one with no remote this is easy did it with my nails and in that you will see a bit of white rubber and under this in the chip place this in your flip key and put flip key one in hear for now! to keep it safe
7 then reassemble the key and get seat badge from dealer
8 to code the remote you need the old original key in the ignition with it turned on then lock the door with the new key remove key then press unlock and horn will blip wait 6 second and press unlock again the key is now coded to your car!

cost about 30 quid including new badge and plenty on ebay
the key part no. i got and that i know works is HLO 1JO 959 753 AG
this is of a bora and mine was only 6 months old so the news batch of keys do still work!

hope this gives you the info you need
cheers gaz

Im having difficulty understanding this....... Can anyone clarify this for me.

order blank key

get it cut

remove imobilser chip from your old spare key

split flip key and put imob chip from old spare key into flip key (greeny/blue glass chip looks like a pill)

assemble flip key back together

put your other old remote key into ignition and turn on but dont start car

jump out and lock the drivers door with the new flip key

remove from door and press unlock on new flip key

car will blip (some say horn sounds mines didnt and still works)

new flip key is coded

Geezer. cheers.

got my key, tookm the VW badge off, took the screw out and i cant for the lifeof me split the part to put my imob chip in!!! its doin my head in!!
if you flip the key open, theres a tiny gap in the joint,i used a precision screw driver in there to get a small gap, then just used brute force to pull the 2 sections apart.i don't know if that is right, but it worked for me.;)

Really wanted to do this, but opened my key and there is no immobiliser chip
Any one get ideas of why it hasn't or how much they cost?

I have my normal key, mean in my spare opened it up and nothing inside, in the instructions it says there should be chip inside it :-s

Im on ebay just now looking at the flip keys.

I rather like the Audi flip kay opposed to the vw, seat and skoda one.

Would this work? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/AUDI-KEY-FOB-...ryZ10372QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

My original key 433 mhz.

I have the 2 button seat non flip key, would a 3 button flip key also work or would I defo need the 2 button one?

Seat quoted me £30 plus vat to program the key but id give a go at doing it myself.
