yes thats right. my 3 button remote locks/unlocks the doors and the boot release is redundant.
Boot button just does nothing, however it's far easier to find a 3 button Key than a 2 button.

Arrrrgh!! i bought myself a seat 3 button flip key. Ive got a new blade cut already. I didnt realise you had to remove the seat badge to get at a screw in order to swop the transponder. What a retarded design!!!!!!!!!!! the badge on mine was welded to the plastic underneath... ive tried prising it off, heating it up, cutting it off. All i have managed to do is scratch the plastic housing and cut my thumb.

i just put a really little screw driver in the edge of it and prised it up came up quite easy lol

i used the screwdriver that i repair my shades with. oh i received my replacement transponder today from Hickleys (ordered wed 2/12 6pm, arrived fri 4/12). now to get it coded!
Ive also now broken the transponder in my spare, i used super glue remover, but it was jammed in. This is getting silly now!
If you keep you finger on the boot button it unlock just the boot, and disables the alarm. You then get you crap out, shut the boot and it automaticly locks, and alarms the car again. Just don't put you keys down in teh boot, and then shut the boot

Ok ive got another key half on order with a virgin transponder... i am trawling through this thread... but any link would be a massive help.
So do i need someone to code this new transponder to the car, or can i do it myself.
Cupra tdi 56 plate btw.
OK. As far as I understand it...
Any VAG Remote Key can be paired to any VAG car - meaning RF (radio frequency) wise they all work with any car to open the doors/boot, whatever, with the buttons on the remote.
Each car can have a maximum of 4 remote keys paired to it.
Each transponder (immobiliser chip - the glass tube) can only be paired to one car and one car only. If the chip has not been paired with a car then this has to be done by a dealer. If a chip has been paired to another car then this cannot be undone, if this was possible it would defeat the purpose of the thing being there in the first place.
So in short, if your chip has never been paired with the car, take it to the dealer.

- Bought a brand new key, which had all the electrics in.
- Got the key cut at a local lock smiths.
- Took the transponder/glass chip out on my spare none remote key, and placed in the new key I bought
- Then followed the below instructions taken off page 1 to code the new key to my car. All works fine, and in total cost me £30
" to code the remote you need the old original key in the ignition with it turned on then lock the door with the new key remove key then press unlock and horn will blip wait 6 second and press unlock again the key is now coded to your car! "

Well heres my story continued it may be of interest??
10/12 am. took ibiza to the stealers for transponder re-code. after an hour the y told me that i had the wrong key (flipper) and that i had the wrong transponders ha ha ha! then they had the nerve to charge me 1/4 hr labour for the privelidge.
12/12 am. took ibiza to hickleys to get transponders changed and low and behold they tested my original key and i ordered the right transponders in the first place! the nice people at hickleys then programmed them for me and charged a lot less than the stealers. it also turned out that my immobiliser still had 2 keys on it after the dealer visit! could this mean that they didnt even put it on to the system? (i thought that once you put it on all keys were wiped and had to be re-coded).
i now have 3 keys coded to my immobiliser no thanks to stealers.
the moral of the story appears to be that my local dealer will only do keys that they have supplied (£150 each)

any idea which transponder it was you got? I think it's AKTP2 on their site that I need to get...
FYI I got a key from this ebay seller; the part number is HLO 1JO 959 753 DA, the is frequency 434MHZ, it locks/unlocks my 2005 (55) Cupra TDI and the boot button works too
