Flip key, will it work

Hi

Just wondering if anyone has converted their key into a flip key, I have the central locking (spare key) or old style key.
Can I just but the blank key from eBay and swap the transponder?
Does my key have a transponder I can remove?

It can be done, you do have to remove the transponder from your spare key though
