FMIC Advice please.

Morning all.

I picked up a FMIC last night really cheap............ but its not for a leon, infact its not for VAG at all. It came off a Corsa VXR.

I am unsure whether to pursue trying to fit it and get it working or whether to go towards a TX kit. Please help

I know the guy I got it from ran 60mm hoses on the kit, so thats the first qusetion i guess, is that going to be suitable for the leon or will a smaller hose starve the engine?

The cooler measures:

Core : 590mm
Overall length : 850mm (tip to tip)
Height : 130mm
Depth : 52mm

Im really hoping its going to work and not cause any trouble but want your opinions first.
What I dont want to do is fit it for no gains and then end up buying another.

That looks as useless as the original IC. After all the effort you made, I wouldn't even bother trying to make that fit.

Toyo / TX / Custom ftw. I might soon switch to the turborevs IC, made for the mk4 golf, it's on eBay. It's a bit more tidy when it comes to the pipework then the Toyosports

Plus @ 232Bhp, you've maxing out the K03S / your car's set-up. Temps must be soaring.

I know temps must be high hence Im after a cooler.

There are a few second hand intercoolers floating around on the web suitable....

i would say any front mount is better then the single sidemount, so if you have a "free" FMIC upgrade why not do it.
you only need to do some pipe works, and if you want a better/bigger size intercooler later, then you have the pipe work done, only need to adjust for the new cooler IF you want bigger later!

The one Ive got is massively wide and wont really fit.
Dont think I can be bothered with the hassle and its really not very big

Yeah I think thats gonna be the way forward if I can find a core at the right price

Cooling on them will be better until you can afford a decent FMIC instead of scrabbling bits together.
Ports on the corsa cooler are tiny and major bottleneck, probably less volume too

I was trying to work out total volume today and I'm pretty sure the vxr one is smaller hence it's on eBay now lol.

Gonna look at prices of what me and phill discussed.

i had one on my car and then sold it to Andy Lang on here who still has it on his and hasnt caused him any issues on his frequent trips to the Ring. Cheaper than what I paid for it when I first got it too, b*stards. See my readers ride thread for some pics.

I've got a LCR inlet manifold and chargepipe bud so need a LCR FMIC
