I have a cupra 180, but before i had it it was mapped with a stage 2? i think turbo back miltek a good airfilter and a FMIC.

the fmic was removed and a standard airbox put back on before i got it, i tryed asking what fmic it was but got no answer, so will a " kit " toyo or so fit? with a little effort or will it need to be a DIY job? if a diy jobs needed is there any guides as to what parts to buy for a diy install .

one last question, should i just use a good panel filter or is there any decent priced airfilters with a heatsheild that doesnt cost a fortune!

thanks!

Interested in this to...been thinking about an intercooler soon so im open to all options and ideas although dont want to spend big bucks!

Have you thought about going down the Wellycooler route? It's being used on LCR, S3 with excellent results and good VFM. I fitting on my self in a couple of weeks. Prawn (A3 1.8t AUG) kind enough to wright up a guild for the MKIV Golf boys. Here is a how to guild to suit you pipe work.

For some reason I can't post a link to GolfGTI forum??? But if you look on there, go to the MKIV section, look in the maintenance section and look at the FMIC post by Prawny. It's a very good guild for your car.

The twin pass don't work as well as the sigle pass though. Or are you going for form over function?

single pass with outlets both on 1 side is possible,, see the pic in my sig

How efficiently does it work? The inlet and out let look very close together to me. I wonder how much of the far end of the cooler get used? Look a neat install though.

This is the FMIC set up I'm on about

Its not too hard to do your own if your competent with tools, its just a chore measuring cutting, cutting some more etc.. i got a large TX cooler and toyo sport universal pipe kit and attacked it in a day just budget for at least a full day to get it perfect if its your first time, maybe do it over the weekend.

Twin pass is ok on an LC but if youve any ideas about upping power past stage 2 go single.

My current set up wouldnt go past 280bhp with the forge twin, only when changing to a single did the turbo hit expected figures. Mines running a different set up but it does demonstrate the a twin pass and the associated pipework gets restrictive past a certain point. :)

Exactly my point. I'm never gonna bother for the foreseeable future change from the ko3s so just want the car to run a little smoother with colder intake temps. And of course having the look of a fmic

is there a twin pass kit then? why isnt there any kits for the 180 ! , i seen toyo kits say 1.8t but doesnt say if its a cupra or cupra r
