I've got Leon with standard non FR bumpers and I want to change the fog light bulbs from standard to MTEC H3 bulbs which I've bought but the original bulb in the car now is a complete sealed bulb but I want to put the H3 bulb in with the single wire coming out of them.

Does anyone know how I can modify these?

Thanks

Ben

My advice would be to fit the correct bulb.

Given how sensitive the Leons are to canbus errors related to bulbs, I would have thought any modification to the intended bulb could give you problems going forward.

You could buy a set of the foglights that use the H3 bulb, or find some H11 (I think) bulbs that are the right colour for you.

I don't think you will ever manage to modify the existing lamp to allow you to fit the wrong bulb, and even if you could it would most likely be in the wrong place for the reflector, which would be technically illegal.

This seems like an awful lot of work just to get a match to the headlight colours. Why not leave the foglamps off unless it's foggy - which is what you're supposed to do in any case.

Alright mate, just looks a bit sh*t cause the dipped and sidelights a 5000k and then I've got yellow fogs

Thanks anyway mate

Ah, now I know the reason behind it I will say definitely dont do it.

1. Fogs should only be on when you need them so the asthetics shouldnt matter.
2. Fogs are yellow-ish for a reason! Reason being, bright white does bugger all to help you see in fog and will pretty much bounce back at you the same way as your 5000k bulbs will. Fogs are designed to spread out to enable you just to see the road immediately infront and beside you.

If you want fog lamps to match your sidelights coz you like to rock around with them on all time, see #1 above ;)
