I'm in the market for shopping in my Old A6 for a basically brand new Formentor.
I think... I'm going to go for a Hybrid VZ2 (2022-2024)
The one thing that appealed to me about the VZ2 was the dynamic ride control as it would be nice on my long motorway journeys to have some comfort, but at the push of a button have some fun on the backlanes.
Looking at this clunking issue it could be a massive pain in the arse.
Would you recommend the V2 instead of the VZ2?

it depens how sensitive you are. For me, I hate the clunking sound however still appreciate the ability to stiffen the suspension. However for daily city driving I turn the DCC off by taking our the fuse out, the car is very comfy and super silent then.
So, after 2 years of trying different SEAT approved service centres (all useless) the problem I have had with the front suspension knocking over any surface (unless ultra smooth) has finally been fixed by an excellent SEAT dealer in Northampton. It’s only because of this forum and in particular the excellent updates and advice from forum member: “Tara” that I kept perusing this with the dealers. I’ve also attached a photo of the part/ part number that was used as it may help someone else who is trying to sort out this problem with their own dealer.
Although this particular dealer thought it was a top mount problem at first, they quickly identified that the shock absorber was the main problem, ordered the part, fitted it and the knocking front suspension has now completely gone and it drives like it should have done when it was new!!

Really pleased and always knew it was the dampers but they constantly kicked it down the road as they where absolutely useless lol , i ended up with kw coilovers as they said they didnt have a fix but just goes to show you if you have a good dealer it can get done , enjoy the new quiet ride.
This is very good to know as I am pursuing dealer regarding this issue too. I am not sure but maybe they installed you the dampers from facelift? Facelift apparently has dampers with double valve and when I tried test drive the drive was super smooth and silent.
Great outcome. Personally I have given up, as previously replied my wifes car has been professionally lowered, looks great by the way and of course dealer says its the lowering thats caused it, tempted to put standard springs back but they will no doubt find another excuse....

Yes, looks I’ve finally found a good dealer with technicians who know what they are talking about. Unfortunately in this area one dealer has closed down, one is now BYD and the other is useless on servicing and only interested in sales.
Yes, I saw you posts on the KW’s which sounds like a perfect solution in moving away from these Monroes, so will be interesting to see how you go over the longer term.

It was so frustrating and you should never have to go to this extreme to try and fix a known manufacturing fault.......warranty is a joke but hopefully this problem has turned a corner.
From what I can tell, this is the shock from the pre-facelift and they only fitted one as there was only a problem on one side. I thought shocks should always be changed in pairs but I just consider myself lucky to have this fixed at all under warranty so I wasn’t going to push it further. I’ve since taken out an extended warranty but noted in the T&C’s that shocks are not covered…..
Interesting. Passenger side shock on my pre-fl has been already changed with the same part as provided by you. And even though I felt that something has changed after that, the issue still persisted. Will be interesting to hear your experience in the long term.
Yes I am pleased I don't drive her car very often as it pisses me off, she is ok with it so I cant be bothered anymore, I will stick to my RS3. Certainly wont be buying another Cupra when its getting replaced, silly thing is we swapped her Audi S3 8y for this!!
Did you get to learn how your Dealer identified the Shock Absorbers as being the problem?
I've recently had all four top mounts changed on my '74 Ateca VZ to try and solve a banging / crashing issue with my suspension. It's an improvement but I'm not convinced it's solved the problem and I'm minded to ask my Dealer to take another look, particularly at the DCC shock absorbers.

If they fit the same parts but new, the issue will not disappear as the shocks are defected by design, i.e. they work loudly.
No, unfortunately as I wasn’t able to speak directly to the technician.
They did an initial check a few weeks before and presumed at that point that it most ‘likely’ to be the top mount although they couldn’t be sure until they had stripped out the suspension and taken a closer look. It was after this that they found it wasn’t the top mount and the shock needed changing instead - it was fitted the same day!
Everything still okay at the moment, although someone else mentioned that they had had the shocks changed and the problem returns - I’lll see how it goes and if anything changes (or not) I’ll post it on this thread.
I’m just hoping that the problem has now been fixed by Monroe as I believe the shocks were removed from sale for a while?

Also as mentioned a few months back (this is a long running thread) I've identified that Bilstein B6 DampTronics (DCC) are available for the Ateca. I had B6s to good effect on a Skoda Yeti, 5 - 10 year back.
Being keen to pursue this option, as @Tara has done albeit using K&W Coilovers, I was nevertheless nervous of giving myself a Warranty problem. Reading up on the Cupra Official website, it states that shock absorbers are excluded from Warranty; so logically there would be no effect i.e. the remainder of the car will be covered.
Thought I'd grab the bull by the horns and raised an 'If I change my shocks, will warranty be preserved on the rest of the car?' enquiry to CUPRA via their website a few evenings ago.
I got a reply email from Customer Service within 24 hours, the meat of which is;-
In response to your enquiry, the replacement of shock absorbers will not invalidate the warranty on the remainder of your vehicle, provided that the replacement is carried out correctly and using parts that meet CUPRA's specifications. As shock absorbers are considered wear-and-tear items, they are not covered under the manufacturer's warranty; however, replacing them does not affect the warranty coverage for unrelated vehicle components.
Should you choose to have the work completed by a CUPRA Authorised Retailer, you can be assured that Genuine CUPRA Parts and approved repair procedures will be used. If the work is carried out by an independent repairer, we would recommend ensuring that the replacement parts are of equivalent quality and fitted in accordance with manufacturer standards.
I'm therefore now set to get the Bilstein B6 DampTronics and am researching where best to buy them from. I've already identified a local VAG/BMW/Mercedes independent garage who'll fit them up for me. This will naturally save me and my local CUPRA Dealer a lot of time, effort and no doubt heartache in chasing a solution of a quiet ride.
