Found a split pipe - but what pipe is it?

Pics say it all, was having a nosey around my bay in preparation for my TIP which I just ordered and spotted it.

What does it do? Is it important? Can I buy a replacement and change it myself?

i believe thats the crank case breather hose? easy to replace, get a silicone one from ebay, mine was around 25 quid, u will prob need a couple more clips too

Be careful with the plastic pipe that that connects too, breaks very easily....

At which end? Bottom or top of the picture?

The bottom right hand bit as your looking at the picture.
The top iirc goes to the hockey puck and the other to the crankcase as you can obviously tell

very similar to the one i got, fits nice

I have this too, needed a slight trim on the edges to make it fit perfectly...you can see mine here.

Keith where did you get te covers for the coil packs and fuel rail? Looks wicked!

Made the lower one got the top one second hand off someone
just need rocker cover and inlet manifold powder coated or painted

Looks good! I need to tidy mine up a bit, got a load of oil and crap around the oil filler cap.

what are the downsides to having this? is the car drivable? would it effect the power/boost?

Wow that is nasty! That looks like a different part to the breather pipe described above...

just had a fiddle and its half hanging off slightly above that where it connects to the bigger (breather?) pipe.

its pretty buggered. no idea how long its been like this.

cool, thanks guys, how hard would it be to replace myself? it looks like it goes well under the engine , no idea how i would get to that bit.

do you know if this would effect the power/turbo of the car?

Easy remove the front plate and it's easier.
More mpg rough idling reduced boost too possibly.
