Just contacted Trading Standards. First stop is a letter to the dealer headed "Sale of Goods Act 1979" explaining that they are in breach of contract as the goods supplied were not as described.
Good luck everyone!

Since I haven't yet taken delivery, my dealer is swapping me into a different car; one fitted with V2.2

Just had a call from Seat customer service stating that they can't change the unit for 2.2 and they will contact me with an offer by close of play tomorrow. They also asked why it was so important to me why I needed 7 digit postcodes? Seat upgraded the media system from 2.1 to 2.2 to include 7 digit postcodes so why the f**k are they asking me is it important? Roll on tomorrow! I'm glad you got the car sorted Uncle Fester - the sooner we put this thread to bed the better!

Indeed.

Soonest mended, soonest forgotten.

The sales manager has given his word that I’ll get a car with V2.2 but it may need to be a fresh order. I rather think that it’s the dealership doing the honourable thing before SEAT. If that’s the case then I’ll make sure everyone knows that particular dealership does right by its customers. After all, they didn’t make this mess. What matters is how it gets cleared up. Right now he’s taking the opportunity to come out with his image better than it was when this situation started. I hope SEAT takes the same attitude.

My concern is that the sales manager isn't the final authority in SEAT. His best efforts may be trumped by someone higher.

Until my car is delivered and correct I doubt either of us will relax.

The unfortunate thing is that if I‘m to get delivery on time I would have to take a car which has been built for stock and is already on the way. Alternatively I would have to wait for a new build and get the car about a month late.

Since the only colour the dealer has coming in time is one my wife hates, it looks as if the delivery will be early October instead of the previously arranged 1st September for the new registration. Obviously it’s a disappointment to miss the date but the dealer can’t magic up cars.

Since my wife and I disagreed upon the colour anyway we compromised. She had first choice of silver colour; I got my way over having the sunroof. This meant a factory order, but that was in time for the September delivery.

Unfortunately the dealer had a problem and swapped us into a speed blue without the sunroof. Had that not happened we would never have encountered this issue as the car would have been built a different week.

This gives us some flexibility on the colour we would take. She wanted silver, I wanted speed blue. The track grey looks too dark to us, but the Furia grey might be ok, giving a third way. The trouble was that she wants to physically see one in Furia before committing herself. We can’t find one anywhere to view. It doesn’t matter if we have to wait for a factory build anyway.

Apparently the only solution is to reorder the car as SEAT is refusing to alter existing cars.

What is the current waiting time for a new build slot?

I’m being told that to resolve this issue I must reorder the car as a new build, but surprisingly the dealer cannot access the relevant SEAT computer giving lead times at the weekend.

However, this will delay the delivery date and the dealer wants to renegotiate my part exchange value downwards, even though the delay is SEAT’s fault.

Has anyone else encountered a similar response?

They're trying to persude buyers to accept cars with V2.1

I don't think they anticipate having many reorder or rejected cars.

Currently they're offering token compensation. Some are being offered four times what others are.

What are people being offered - mine is £100 and a software update when it becomes avaiable - whenever that is?

We're currently experincing issues with our outgoing mail server.

As a result I'm receiving emails from people on this thread, but can't reply.

Please ensure you include a phone number so I can get back to you.

Bugger, just about to pick up a new FR+ after being away form a Leon for a while. I have asked the supplying dealer to confirm v 2.1 or 2.2

Question, has anyone agreed to take a 2.1 and if so what kind of compensation did you agree?

Our issue is we have no car at all at the moment so waiting on a new factory order is just not an option. I do like the Leon, this will actually be our 3rd but don't want to get rooked.

Cheers

Chris

Waiting for Seat to call me back on this. I have been offered £100 in Seat accessories which is crap. You have paid for a car with 2.2 and Seat will try to palm you off with this. What we don't know is how it will effect the resale of the car. I contacted trading standards and have to write to the dealer. Watch this space.

Thanks. I'm waiting for confirmation back from our dealer whether we're affected by this or not. Fingers crossed.

Would be a shame to have to be placed into a position where the only sensible thing to do is to reject the car. We really enjoyed our first Mk1 Cupra and then the TDi that followed (early Mk2) was so efficient over its life that coming back to the UK and into another Leon was just like coming home and we were hoping to blend 2.0TSi performance with a bit of frugality on longer runs.

Seat really need to wise up, 100 is just not enough when they are asking folks to take on an unknown risk on resale values.

Well I am picking up my car on Thursday, tbc whether its 2.1 or 2.2. Should I be concerned? What are the differences other than 7 digit post-code recognition?

So in my current FR I press the button and give vocal instructions on what to do "i.e. dial such and such" and it does it - is this what is missing?

Bit of a sh*tter if so because the phonebook does not always sync with the bluetooth currently

A 7 digit post code is the one you want as found on the 2.2 system. 2.1 gives you 5 digits. eg if you want to go to NR31 5TJ - the nearest you get is NR31 5 which is a far bigger area than the 7 digit one. You paid for 2.2 - demand it! I know I have an FR+ with 2.1 and I'm fighting for it to be fitted!
