I fancy changing them from silver to black, but unsure how to go about preparing them to 'take' the paint.

I've sprayed wing mirrors before but they were plastic, would it just be the same? Unsure what the badge are made of. Some wet and dry to give the spray something to attach to, repeating until i get a decent finish?

yeah basically, what about some grey primer first to take the shine away and a good base for the black paint.

Looks tacky IMO painting over the badge, but then again, i am an old fart :roflmao:

how about a badgeless one instead ?

so you get the full grill/honeycombe ?

best thing to use is a scotch brite, looks like a grey brillo pad. halfords do there own make and come in a pack of red and grey. grey is the finer one.

scotch brites are what bodyshops use to prepair sound painted panels for repainting/laqering. and youll be able to get in to all the edges with them.
just a scotch off and then paint it black, no need for a primer as it will key to the old chrome paint. trust me i work in a bodyshop.
