Front and rear speaker size

doe anyone know the front speaker size in a mk 1 leon cupra r......i believe there all the same but want to know what size they are so i can buy some good replacments.

do you know how the speaker covers come off too?you dont have to take the door cards out do you...

think they are 6x6 round mate theres to ways to get the covers off.either snap the plastic tabs that hold the speaker on but you will have to glue them back on.Or take the door card off and melt the plastic clips off.i broke the tabs gentle then hot glued them back on cos 1 of mine was cracked

yeah 17cm all round... can get the speaker inserts on ebay, saves having to knock up something yourself.... leon mk1 speakers are riveted in so some gentle drilling required.... an yes the whole interior of the door comes off... theres a step by step guide on here but takes a bit of searching...

as 17cm is not standard you have to have the 17-to-16.5cm adaptors off ebay
but as I have read the leon OEM speakers are not something to change.... better change the Aura thingy in your dash.

I have already changed my head unit....just thought its common practice to upgrade the component speakers to suit...doesn't sound too bad as long as the inserts are easy to come by and cheap. So just need them and some 6 inch speakers(6.5cm)
