Help,

I am in the process of changing my discs and pads and cannot get the bolts that hold the caliper to the car to loosen!

I am using a 18mm spanner and then using a bit of pipe for leverage but still no movement (The spanner/pipe does seem to 'bend' slightly but not loosen the bolt).

Any tips from the experience people on here?
I have sprayed WD40 on the bolt too.

Thanks in advance.

Personally id buy proper tools and do it properly or it done by somebody else.

Spounds like your trying to undo the carrier to hub bolts not the caliper to carrier bolts.

I was following a fitting guide that I found via this forum but it is sorted now.

I removed the whole caliper from the hub to get the disc off the wheel. Which I think is what I was meant to do!

It would also seem that having the correct tools does make a difference, who would have thought it!

Cheers for all the advice!

if their that tight, id personally use a 1/2" 18mm socket (6 sided not a multi spline one) and a breaker bar. This will give you good leverage and will most likely undo it

With Brembos you have to remove the bolts, there are no separate carriers - the caliper is rigidly mounted and there are two pistons on either side.

You need a decent socket and a long handle to undo them, and will need to use a torque wrench on the socket to do them up properly.

Torque to 125Nm when refitting.

It's not a convectional "carrier". Its an basically an adapter plate the that caliper bolts to and is separate to the hub carrier. (Black parts in pic)
