A lot of owners with Golf Rs are doing the Haldex themselves. It’s quite simple. Just remember to clean the strainer/gauze when doing it. It can clog up causing loss of oil flow which ultimately leads to a knackered Haldex pump.

Does a 2014 Leon Cupra have a Gen 5 front VAQ diff? It saves on buying an additional filter that a Gen 4 version needs.
I can't find any info & pics about the diff in the workshop manuals.

I believe all mqb are 5th gen. There should be a built in filter when you slide out the pump.

My SEAT dealer (FIFE SEAT) knew all about the dif oil and done mine at the service time, but it has to be asked for as not on the online booking list of service work. They do a lot of Cupras so that will probally be the reason, finding a good dealer is paramount if you have a Cupra what with the diff oil (every 3 years) and DSG oil (every 40,000 miles) you want someone who knows what they are doing.

Lowest price for parts was £40.
Opie Oils do the diff oil for £25 ( I got it for £19) https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/173629803147
2 xplugs were £15 from dealer! I'm sure the old plugs would be OK with new O rings could be sourced.
Hoping to do this in the next 2 weeks.
I did mine today.
Removed the pump too.
Absolutely no goo or any dirt inside on the metal filter.
Oil was used up but not really looking bad.

No idea if this was ever replaced, all the maintenance was done at the dealers but no record of diff oil change.
Currently 65k miles on the clock.
Looking at how clean it was I think it had to be changed before.

I managed to pour in only about 400-450 ml. And I even drained the pump.
I will now take it for a spin and check the levels

Was the car level and did you check the oil level after allowing the car to start and let the oil pump to prime?
I understood that it will take around 700 ml to fill the diff.

Sorry typo.
Meant 500-550. You are correct. When pump fills itself i believe it takes 100ml maybe.
I have put abot 400 ml at 1st then it started to drip.
Started it up. Put another 150 so it started dripping again.
Took it for a spin and added again maybe 50-100 until it was dripping again.

In total I believe 600-650 is max with pump removed.
Mine was not dripping but when I took out the pump it released some more.
On golf forum I found people saying it is 570+- 30ml.

Seems now it got a lot gentler.
I have my diff in vcds set to strong and after oil change feels like it is engaging a lot gentler and feels a lot more comfy in hard corners like it was unlocking itself faster.
Hard to describe but drives differently. I guess my oil could be so old if I feel it improved now.

Cannot edit my previous post....
I checked service manual and it states as below:
Capacity for front differential lock:
->Capacity approx. 0.60 litres
->Change capacity approx. 0.40 litres

So I guess if you leave pump in it will be 400, if you take it out 600ml.

It’s like any oil change, unless you drain and clean the item out you will always put less in than the actual capacity, always a wee drop oil hiding somewhere that has not drained off.

That is correct. It was more to give the amounts per each type of service.
Today I pushed it really hard and definitely diff works smoother on the new oil, no doubt.

Same with VW and the Haldex on Golf Rs. Most do not know that the pump needs to be cleaned and the mesh strainer (no filter on Haldex) also needs cleaning - and sooner than 3 years. I’ve seen some unbelievable pictures of dirty Haldex systems after only two years.

Found myself an independent vag specialist in Dartford Kent named 4rings and the main man Dean was a pleasure to deal with, he replaced the front diff oil and took off the haldex pump and cleaned the gauze mesh, he even took pics of the pump and showed them to me, cheaper then others outhere and he didn't try to push any other service to me. Will be going to 4rings from now on for all service and maintenance works. ?

Was looking through the service history of my 15' Cupra ST front wheel drive and its been done twice.
They have also changed the oil 3 times in the DSG box in 130000km . Proper serviced car.
