My front passenger door lock isn't working. Using the key fob it doesn't lock, and no sound from the actuator. And it doesn't lock when using the key in the drivers door lock. Other doors are fine. If I lock the other doors via the fob or key and I open the passenger door the alarm goes off. Firstly, is there any way I can lock the passenger door while I am waiting to get it fixed, and secondly is it likely to be the actuator? From what I have read, the door should lock with the key, regardless of the actuator, but that could be wrong?
And then, is there anyone in a cornwall able to do the repair for me?

It's a common fault and easy enough to replace the module yourself mate. You can get one from ebay for around £15. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Front-Lef...304103&hash=item25cd10faff:g:Y8wAAOSwZVhWSXaf

Guide to fixing it. http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthre...indow-regulator-clips-and-or-door-lock-module ~

To remove the interior door panel on ours, you split open the handle that you pull the door closed with, using a plastic pry tool (or a screwdriver if you're not worried about slight marks on the plastic) and then there are 2 big screws inside it. Also 2 torx bolts at the bottom of the door card, if you look up at it from the ground you will see them After that it's identical to the guide above.

As for locking it, i'm not 100% sure but i think you can just push the plastic pin down into the door like you would of with older cars.

Edit: it's normal for it not to open with the key, that only applies to the drivers door.

Cheers for the info. It looks a bugger of a job to do!

Looking at the ebay modules, some have 8 pins, and some have 6 pins. Can you confirm that that its the 8 pin version that I need - thats the one you linked to. They all say they are for the Leon Mk1

I'm 99.9% sure that only 6 of the pins are connected. It's just some models only have the 6 pins in the plug, while others have 8 but only 6 of the pins are wired inside. The one i linked is definitely the right one.

Job looks harder than it is tbh mate, i've done a few now and it's not too bad. Takes about 2 hours if it's your first time and you aren't rushing it. It's perfectly possible on your own, but does make things easier if you have a mate there to give you a hand holding the interior panel while you unplug the electrical connectors etc.

Also you'll probably need to reseal the door panel as you refit it, or you'll have wet carpets and then problems with the crash sensors under the seats. Guide here. http://dubsteve68.blogspot.co.uk/2011/05/seat-leon-leaking-door-seals-repair.html

Use the sealant shown in that guide as bathroom type silicon sealant will just leak.

Ok, I have ordered a new module, and some butyl sealant

They won't arrive for a few days. Is there any way I can lock the door so nobody can 'break in' to my car?

I'm not 100% sure, but from playing around with a spare lock module i have here, it seems you should be able to just push the locking pin down into the door.

Sorry i should have been clearer mate. I meant the small plastic pin that pops up when the door is unlocked, you should just be able to push it down, like locking a car in the old days. By the feel of this lock you will probably have to push it fairly firmly, but it should lock the door manually once down. Pulling the interior handle twice should open it again.

I don't think I have one of them :/

I might be being really thick here, but I don't remember any of the doors having an actual pin that pops up. I will check later as I am going out lol. I remember having them on older cars

Older Leon's had the pop up pins just like mk4 golfs but later changed so you won't have them
I replaced all 4 door modules and as said above it is quite easy once you've done it first time

Never realised that mate, mine is 02 plate and does have the pins...... Masterfrodo i'm guessing yours must be a later model, in which case i don't think there is anyway to lock it manually.

No, just gonna have to leave the car empty and hope, while I wait for the part to come, and I can get it booked in
