Aright guys

I've done a search already, but just wanted a bit of clarification....

I've got a Cupra 20VT. I'm after the Cupra R front spliiter for it, coz I think it looks so much better.

Am I right in thinking the best place to source one is from a Seat dealer? I'm shocked as I have read that they are only £20??? I thought it would be a lot more than that........so if so then thats a result! :lol:

Will there be any noticable difference from fitting it or is just for looks?

i've got one on mine, but its kinda coming off on one side... need to get it on a ramp to take a proper look. catches nearly everything on the road. humps are 50/50. just pray you'll clear it :cry:

Think that will be my first mod then. When I bought the car 2 months ago I said to myself I would leave it totally stock, but comming on here, I'm getting swayed to modfiy my Cupra......nothing to bling, just keeping it subtle.

Want to get it lowered so it looks better and handles round corners with a bit less roll. Whats the best way to go down this route? I'm think coilover suspension. Sorry to sound dumb, can I've been reading about Arbs and Struts, so can someone break it down what I would need to do. An idiots guide will do :redface:

Then probably get some 18's fitted, but at a later date.....:D

As i understand it:
Strut Braces offer greater chassis rigidity allowing the suspension components to work more effectively (as the chassis flexs the suspension geometry changes)
Anti roll bars do exactly that, limit body roll. these make a massive differenence to the handling characteristics of the car, without compromising ride comfort in anyway.
Lowering your car on coilovers will lower the centre of mass of the car, aswell as stiffening the ride, improving handling further, but can compromise ride comfort.

Do you think all parts are necessary to achieve less body roll and a better centre of gravity? From reading what you have said, am I right in thinking coilovers will improve the handling by obviously lowering the car, meaning that I will achieve that desired lower look and a better handling ride.

I don't want to spend crazy amounts of cash, so getting coilovers and anti roll bars would suffice without have to folk out for strut braces as well?

Sorry for all these questions, just that I'm keen to learn more about this.

I can't comment on that too much to be honest. On my old leon 1.4s I changed the springs and dampers which made a massive improvement - but the cupra suspension is far better to start with. On my lcr i have done the s3 front strut brace and the rear arb (the lcr has a 19mm front arb as standard) because they are both diy jobs that don't need a 4-wheel alignment after! the rear arb has helped massively making the rear end feel much more planted. when fitting my front strut brace i wasn't expecting to notice much different, but i was wrong! it has transformed the car again, making the front corner flater and smoother, altho introducing some predictable understeer again.
From what i have read, coilovers and arbs will make your car go round corners like its on rails so i would suggest you would be happy! i front s3 strut brace is £53 from an audi dealer; and takes about 2 hours to fit.

I shall do a search for prices on coilovers and Arbs front and rear.

I'm comming from an MR2 Mk2 Rev4 which for a 12 year old car, still out performs many hot hatches on the twisties, so want to have that planted down feeling in the corners. This will help!:D

Will leave the strutbars for now, and any power gains. Once I have the suspension sorted, then I may look at increasing the BHP, a possible re-map, and dump valve and panel filter.

Yeah, from looking at pics of cupras with splitters on, makes a big difference to the look. That will definately be my first mod. I was s bit suprised at the price, I thought it would have been way more than £20, so thats a right result!
 
Hi all,
I had one on my 2004 leon cupra tdi and it made it look so much better!
It does require a bit of modding to fit but definitely worth it! From memory I paid about £18 (inc vat) but that was about three years ago now!
 
Oh yeah, I also had some titanium wing mirror covers (from the FR) and in my opinion made it look a lot better especially on a black leon
