I cant believe your only averaging 280 miles per tank. There has to be some thing wrong theoreticaly. My old megane 1.6 16v used to do 350 on £45. But my tdi 130 gets 450 with a foot made of solid lead. I did drive sensibly once and averaged 61.9 mpg

Drove my 1.4 to london and back yesterday (for the motor show!) and got 430 miles on a tank, or about 44mpg.

Not bad as was averaging about 75 on the motorway all the way.

I drove my ibiza to Cardiff the other week on under a full tank and back and then did about 60 miles just driving to and from work and going to friends and i got roughly 400 miles or there abouts.

I only had this car about a month but i do wish i would of held out and got a TDI but i will change it in just under a years time or something if not before depending on if i can get lots of money together.
