I'm Tyrannosaurus Alan!!!
 My fuel light came on for the first time yesterday, and i have done around 20 miles since... and reckon i can get another 10 or so....

The needle hasnt touched the bottom of the red yet either!!

How accurate is the little fuel left guage as thats said 5 miles and has now dropped to 0!!

Seems very childish i know but its payday tomo and im not putting fuel on a credit card lol

Banks are closed, money wont go out of your account until tomorrow anyway.

Plus you'll be dragging any **** from the fuel tank through the system!

I've had 30miles if not a lil more a few times now  Reckon with some very careful driving you could touch 40miles with some wind behind you..

i managed 10 miles when i was on 0 on the read out, i know i shouldn't have but when things are tight needs must and all that!!!

the mileage predictor is based on how you drive, if you take it very easy it may well change and show you can do a few more miles.

however personally, id not risk it.
if your credit card balance is zero then why not use it and pay it straight away.
or debit card take couple of days to go through anyway

and the thing about dragging **** from the fuel tank through the system, dont worry, theres a fuel filter and besdies it takes fuel from the bottom of the tank if full or empty.

been playing it for weeks in the astra

100m from station yesterday and spluttered as light went red so i turned it off

lights green and car struggled to get over 2k rpm as i pulled up to the pump

PHEW ! ! ! !!

If your on the 1.4 8v then you should be able to get 45miles out of it without too much of a problem (albeit a bit scary)

I think i've had 49 before refueling, but that was back in the days where i realised that if you just put a 5ers worth in, and then top up as soon as the light goes on you dont get caught out that one time where it runs out of fuel with only 20miles past the light and still a little bit on the needle.

Its a risky game, but as long as i'm on a flat surface (or in standard driving conditions) when the light goes on I'll happily take it to 20 past the light before worrying.

JAmes.

I know it was a bad thing to do but when my cupra was being mapped i was sent out to get petrol so they could drive it more lol.. The readout was reading 0 miles by the time i realised i was completely lost.

Actually drove about 15 miles to find a petrol station with it reading 0 miles.. Was taking it very easy though.. lol and sh1tting it waiting to run out :p
