fuel pump priming

got a question, ive read somewhere on here that when you open the door you can hear the fuel pump prime which mine does but it also does it when I turn the ignition, is this correct?

Yes that's fine, only start worrying when it doesn't ever prime.

thanks for the replies guys, the reason I ask is sometimes its difficult to start and I thought it might be over priming if that's possible? yesterday I opened the door and didn't hear it prime and turned the ignition on and heard it prime and it started with ease no struggling what so ever but other times it turns over a few times before starting

Yes it is fine.. no problem.. if you dont hear when you open the door, then you should check your switch which is on the door lock mechanism. You can understand like this; If the interior light comes on when you open the door then it is working, if not you need to change it. Because it is a common problem on old models due to aging because of dirt/rain...

the interior lights come on when I open the door, I do have a module to replace if its faulty, I just didn't hear it prime when I opened the door but I did when I switched the ignition on, sometimes its difficult to start in the way the car turns over but doesn't start first time but it started first turn of the key, I will scan it and see what comes up.
