Hi its been bugging me for a few weeks and a group of guys here at my work have given me several fuel types to get but which ones do u guys use? I use Tesco 99 atm as it was recommended but im having doubts! So far ive tried

BP Ultimate - average 32/33 mpg best ive got out of it was 42 mpg!

Tescos Octane 99 - 24/26 mpg best ive got is 28 mpg!

Optimax - N/A

Texaco Super Unleaded - 33/35 mpg best ive got 36 mpg

Unleaded 96 - Didnt even think twice!

Evo mag had a good review of available fuels. Winner is race fuel then Optimax then Ultimate. The others arent even worth considering. With the intro of V power this only reinforces Shell's superior choice and it appears to make my SPS2 useful again . On Optimax(now V power) setting, my Revo'd Ibiza is a monster !!!

Yea ive been told to use optimax but ive gotta drive about 20 miles to the nearest pump lol. Im guessing because Ive changed the timing from 7 back to 6 on my beefa and re-aligned the throttle bodies would this be the reason why my cars gone to 25/26 mpg as before it was going really well!

Will my fuel consumption be better after a service??? If not i think there mite be something wrong with my car!!!! I only get around 23 mpg. 25.4mpg was driving so sensibly!!!!! How come mine is drinking fuel. I've never averaged above 30mpg even running down the motorway sensibly!!!

Does anyone know what octane V Power is? I know that its replaced optimax which was 98 but V Power is cheaper than optimax was.

Ive always run on optimax & averaged 31mpg. Im now using V Power since optimax is no longer availible

You sure you have pressed the reset button on the Indicator Stalk?

Yeah but how sensibly are you driving?

I think Optimax is the best for performance. Makes mine fly but i don't see much of an increase in MPG.

Yeah, i normally reset it every time i fill up!!!! Haven't reset it and i've done abot 600 miles and i'm averaging 23.6mpg. Wot do people with a remap average???? Sensible to me is not even getting on boost. changing gear around 2500rpm????

I can be sesible CUPRA T GIRL!!!!!!! BTW I still aint seen my bro. Sorry.

Even when you think you are driving sensibly you will still guzzle fuel. I always drive with the Trip computer showing my what MPG im doing. You will notice if u floor it that it drops down to 7MPG sometimes!!!!

Use the mpg on the trip & see if u can accelerate without it dropping below 25mpg!

Yeah but is that rolling in neutral???? I cannot get my av mpg near 30mgp even cruising down the motorway at around 70mph!!!

Its probably the mods you have done, I would imagine the more power you have the more its gonna drink the fuel?

I average 40mpg on the motorway /duel carriageway by doing between 60-70mph

5th gear all the way

I dont think you need to reset it that often, i just wouldnt leave it six months, you know?

You drive different to me though and even if you think your driving sensibly you probably wont be

I was driving on the motorway when i got those mpgs but i still dont see anything under about 31mpg!

I would say the only way to see what your best mpg is would be to go on the motorway as short journeys will only read lower

Thats ok, im going to call the garage on my lunch and see what they think! Thank you for your help, its much appreciated
