Quick theory, Do the other 1.4 model in vw and skoda suffer gearbox issues?

i used to own a mk5 polo gti, they suffer terribly from gearbox issues, the main reason for sale actually! its a 1.6 though, the 1.4 16v polo doesnt have any issues to my knowledge, neither do the rest of the range
