Gear box problem

Hi
im having trouble with my gear stick it's very stiff & has no spring in it?????
i can get all gears,
but do have trouble geting it out of 5gear,
when you push the stick over to 1/2 gears but do not sleck them it stays there not springing back to the middle???
can someone HELP..............

Thought you had a mate who knew a thing or two about gearboxes, maybe give him a call

take the gaiter off the gear lever and you will see the ball joint for the gear selector check the spring there prob snapped or come loose. Do you change gear very quickly cause this tend to cause this problem.
