Gear selector movement on 02Q gearbox from Leon Cupra

Can someone please confirm on a manual 6 speed 02Q box from a Cupra, if the selector will go back to the central position from 5th and 6th gears when not connected to the linkages please. In other words, do the linkages assist gear selector movement at all?

from what i have made out from he post is the gearbox it out of the car? and if the selector itsnt returning to neutral when between 5th and 6th? correct? and is asking whether the linkages help the spring back?
