Gearbox issues

Not trying to scare you on this one but I was getting whirring noises on my gearbox 02J above 30mph in all gears.

This started off as a soft noise but got progressively worse. Was not the DMF going, it was the gearbox diff bearings were f**ked.

In the end it was more like clunking and the car jerked forwards so much that it wasnt driveable.

Getting the gearbox replaced this weekend.

Sounds like i need to give the guys at Engine and Gearbox Centre a call or drop in then after your experience SubZero, seems to be a similar issue. My cars been all motorway miles since i've had it (25k or so) so with a bit of luck the internals should be ok. The £600 i mentioned did include removal of the box, i assume that was included in the £340 the shimming cost you?

Yeah it was included mate, £340 to diagnose and repair

That sounds much more like it than what i'd been thinking, plus they're quite convienient for me as i'm round the corner at the football every couiple of weeks. Hopefully i haven't left it too long!
