i had to have my gearbox replaced on my leon after 23,000 miles. i know this is not normal, jus wondering if anybody has had the same problem?

i had a problem with it at 1st with 2nd gear! it would HOWL really loud like a transit wen it went passed 2k Revs. they said it was the fly wheel or something and also the sealing came away from the gearbox. which leaked oil onto an into the clutch. under warranty it was repaired an a new clutch was fitted. but it happened again. dealership took it bk in to have yet another look an said it was un-repairable :S they had to replace the whole gearbox which has now been done but now i have a ANNOYING rattling coming from the gearbox which i think is the bearings inside the gearbox??

I hope it's not a common problem as that'll be the same engine as I havem and I'm on about 35k!

if u do have a problem, (hope you dont) then you will hear LOUD howling noise like its been electronically tuned to maximum. an it will gradually get louder as times goes on. you wont loose any power but dont drive it! Fingers crossed..

mine crunches almost every time I engage second gear . . . that's if I take 1st gear to over 4000 revs though . . . I need to book it in for SEAT to have a look at it . . . courtesy car for a week :D . . . hope I get a cupra ;)

blimey i hope mine doesn't need that as its only done 13700 :| Shall have to keep an ear out! I think when the warranty runs out i'm going to stick it into SEAT just before and get them to check it over completely!
