Gearbox speed sensor

Hi All, could anyone pls confirm if the gearbox speed sensor sends data to the Speedo?
I have a 2007 Ibiza 1.9 tdi, with no speed showing on the speedometer.
On looking at the speed sensor, it seems to be a dummy peice of plastic, with no connections in for the cable?
Do the pics look like correct part please?
Connector does have pins and wires in, outer ones have 12v on them with ign on, but looks like nothing to connect to?

Hi mate have you got a abs warning on the dash? I think the wheel speed is done off the abs sensors on these but could be wrong.

If you have VCDS you can test the speedo using the output tests while in the instument cluster module. That would tell you if the cluster is bad or the issue is with the sensor. I also would lean towards the speed coming from the abs sensors, but i'm not 100% sure either tbh

Edit it seems earlier vehicles used the VSS 'vehicle speed sensor' (G22) on the gearbox, then it went to the front left abs sensor

Thanks for replies, I do have errors, both front wheel sensors implausible signal.

Ok, so I have looked a little further, and I get implausible signal on both sensors from VCDS, if I have open or short circuit I get a circuit error, so I am presuming the wiring from sensor up is ok. The car has larger discs fitted,and has at some point had wires changed to abs sensors on both sides. If I look at euro or gsf, the sensors they think it should have are different than the ones fitted.
The fitted sensor is quite wide cylinder, whilst the one that gsf and euro think it should be is much smaller diameter. The abs ring on the car is the same as the one in the pic.
Do the sensors work in the same way, or give the same signal, or are they different principles?
I do not want to order the same sensor as fitted,if its not designed to work with the ring if that makes sense.
