Glove Box without CD Changer

Just wondering is it possible to get a Glovebox without the CD Changer, i.e. is there any models that don't have them built in ?

As i've gone with a Alpine Headunit with Ipod Connection now so don't need the CD Changer anymore and is basically dead weight and i'd rather have the extra storage space

The Leons that dont have a CD Changer have the same govebox, but obviously without the changer! ie, you've still got the small compartment on the right but you also have a small compartment where the change goes. Basically you have two, uselessly small compartments & not one big one as perhaps you are thinking/hoping.

You can buy the insert for the space left by the changer, so at least you don't have a gaping hole in the glovebox. I fitted my HU yesterday so need to research this sometime this week - the part numbers are in a fair few posts.

I currently do not have a cd changer but do have the 2 trim parts that will fill the hole left by removing the cd changer. Maybe we could do a deal?

What about the Audi A3 glove box innards ?

Perhaps source those.

The Leon dashboard is supposed to be based on the same design as the A3 dashboard after all.

The dash is almost identical to the A3 pre facelift models, so they may well fit.

A3 box WILL fit but the pattern on the lid isnt the same and side mountings are slightly different, you can change lid but it leaves a small gap at passenger side! Looks fine and i did it on last leon but havnt on this one!!

Glovebox liner is £10 from your local SEAT dealer. You will also need to use the screws from the disc changer and also the plastic trim that goes around the changer.

there is a leon glovebox that is just a box and doesnt have the moulding for the cd changer in

had to convert some a few years back

one option is to add the changer size tray but you get a box within a box and a large lump of it unuseable

as i used to have it listed if a leon came with a standard completely open glovebox (normal) to add a cd changer you had to fit either :

1M2 857 095 J 73Y (Black for SE/Cupra)
1M2 857 095 J 6QU (grey for S model)
+ cd changer loom 1M2 971 735

now for a normal NON cd changer type box

1M2 857 095 E supercedes to a G
6QU anthracite (grey) 10/98-11/99

1M2 857 095 J
P21 ecru beige 10/98-11/99
1UQ Persiua Black 10/98-04/01
6QU anthracite 11/99-04/01
73Y blacksea 10/98-04/01

supercedes to a K plus needs 6Q0 959 623 A 01C and both J+K show with cd changer hole sorry

theres loads more as the years go on and trim codes change but all listed as CD changer type

in final there was effectively only one genuine box without the cd changer hump
1M2 857 095 E 6QU anthracite (grey)
1M2 857 095 G 6QU is its newer number but i bet it supercedes again to a box with the hump in it

so although there was one originally i fear that it may no longer be available and even if it is it will only be grey not black and dread to think how many i threw away

cant match any numbers exactly to A3 as they have also quattro and airbag switch options but gotta admit it looks worth investigating

Thanks flapper for the info - mine's an 03 LC so I have the airbag switch in the glovebox. As annoying as it is, I don't really keep anything in there anyway - probably because I had a Toledo for nearly 3 years before this so am used to the lack of room! Must admit though, the addition of the airbag switch in the Leon means you *really* don't get a lot

Happy to go with the CD changer hole filler thingy - if anyone has one they don't want and wants some beer money let me know, otherwise I'll order one from my local dealer.

theres a listed option to add one to the dash but god knows how to wire it in

in a word ye - not 100% on availability so you'll have to pester a friendly dealer as my info is probably 12 months behind and no live link any longer otherwise i could check

used to have one of each kicking about (black/grey) but are long gone as everyone wanted a cd changer instead sorry
