Mine and many others are still going. You can't tell me that the majority of car drivers let their turbos warm down before shutting off the engine. If the oil cooks then so be it. It's a tiny amount that's covering the bearing and aslong as the turbo isn't spinning dry no harm should be caused.
The turbos hot from gasses running through it and warm lubricants so its hardly going to cool much with the engine still running. I used to observe my exhaust temp gauge just before my turbo during a hard run, normal run and so called cool down. Can't say it ever really dropped on a cool down.
Do what makes you feel happy but I never do cool downs now.
yeah before i switch off the engine i just wait like 20 seconds to make sure the turbo isnt still spinning and pulling oil, save the bearings (so ive heard)
You obviously know how to look after turbos then.....if we wasn't talking Cupra R then old school cars in general the turbo would be dead in no time.... The practice as only been known for around 25/30 years..... It's best to let it settle naturally even 15 seconds or so
Personally I don't let it stand if its been driven hard just go gentle for the last mile or so. If you've been hard on the brakes too the discs wont cool evenly if stationary as the heat is trapped under the pad. That can warp them.
you must still have a "pre cat" (although you dont have a cat) 02 sensor, other wise your fueling would be al over the place, the 02 sensor you took out would have been the post cat, which job is to report back on teh efficiency of the cat and doesnt effect fuelling, thats the first 02 sensors job
