Booked it back in for the 12th as it looks like they left the electric window switch unplugged when they put the passenger panel back on!

I didnt notice until yesterday when i had a passenger and they tried to open it!

I took mine in today to have a rattle fixed from behind the dash. As it was intermittent I don't know if its fixed or not yet. However they told me they had added extra padding and this was something they had to do before on door panels and posts.

The rattles are back! My wife drives the car most days and she says she doesnt care but i drove it today and Arg its so infuriating!!

Twice its been in to have them fixed!! Losing the will to live now. The car is so good otherwise!

I now have a rattle in the passenger door and in the passenger side A pillar near where the tax disc once went.

AAAAARRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG

Ive had these issues since i got the car. Got 2 rattles fixed, dealer said doorcards were in such poor condition it was hard to believe they came from a brand new car. 2/5 rattles fixed, for me enough is enough. Emailed VW finance as going to force their hand to do something for me. Played the game ling enough with the whole thing and its gone past the point acceptable. Ill updat you when i heqr anything

I know the feeling, the rattle in my passenger side is back but so much worse! I'm going to bite the bullet and do it myself, I've been to two different dealers and I am out of patience running around trying to get it fixed.
Has anyone else got a creak at the front suspension? I've been about that too and it keeps coming back

The self fix really isn't difficult it's Worth a crack - especially whilst the weather's nice, it costs less than £100. Don't forget it makes the car much quieter and a nicer place to be asides from getting rid of the rattles.

Do you have a linky??:D

I really can't stress enough that this is an easy fix. The duration of the job is lengthened by the fact you approach the initial door card/clip removal with kid gloves. Once you do the first door and know where to pull and lever then the subsequent doors are much quicker and easier.

I've since removed the instrument binnacle and sorted out a rattle there too, which I believe was a known problem (possibly resulting in SEAT sending a bulletin to service depts). Again this took 30 mins tops and just to illustrate how easy it was; I did it with my left arm in a sling and limited mobility in my right hand thanks to shoulder and finger surgery.

So if you're losing patience with the dealers then give it a go!

I want to do this on mine but whats the process for removing the binnacle ?? Does the steering column cover need to come off ?

Lower your steering rack and just give it a quick sharp tug all around
The black surround that is...

I followed the links on this thread:

But it now seems they may be stale links.

You basically need to remove the cheaper feeling black plastic trim from around the binnacle, levering it from both sides simultaneously. That should give you enough room to get in on the top and bottom to free the clips. I used trim removal tools. I wouldn't like to use a screw driver or similar as the trim is very cheap feeling and you could easily scratch the metalic grey coloured inserts.

You'll have to remove the sheet of vinyl that covers the steering column then that exposes the screws at the bottom of the cluster. I was panicking that the screws that hold the binnacle in place could easily fall out and disappear behind the dash but if you're careful they stay in situ once they're unscrewed. You can then lift the binnacle out but be careful as you'll need to unclip the connectors at the rear.

You then have access to the whole cluster. I fixed Silent Coat foam to every flat surface I could and also fixed some to the rear of the cluster itself. Then reversed the process to refit everything. Just be careful not to foul the clips or screw holes and check the binnacle is operational before screwing everything back together.

Thanks for that info, will give it a go at the weekend
