can someone tell me if this has been done before, or am i just being stupid?

after looking around the forum for a while i have seen that a lot of people change the standard Mk4 Ibiza 1.8T FR front brakes for the bigger ones from an Audi TT, and this got me thinking!

i saw on ebay that you can buy adapters for the TT that allow you to fit the rear brembos off of a Porsche boxster s onto the front and keep the original Audi TT 312mm discs, so in theory could i do this?

1./ Buy a set of these adapter thingys off of ebay,
2./ Buy a set of grooved 312mm Audi TT front brake discs,
3./ Then find from somewhere the rear brake calipers off of a Porsche boxter s
and braided brake lines not sure what kind i would need though, the end fittings aren't just standard fitments are they?

i know that they would just be for the looks (they're red and say Porsche!! :p) but they are brembo 4 piston calipers, they would still be a good upgrade wouldn't they?

any opinions or a bit of constructive criticism?

It sounds like you would need the caliper carriers off the TT AND the adapter plates for the Porsche calipers. Sounds a bit much to me... but could be done if you have the engineering know-how! Might be easier to get some bespoke caliper carriers made for the Porsche calipers to bolt on to the Ibiza. Brake lines should be fairly easy to fit though. Might be worth speaking to a VAG specialist garage for any ideas they have. TBH you might be better off with just the TT set-up on the front as these have been well tested by many folks on here... Good luck!

have a look on venom motorsport and go on ecs brake conversion that should be all you need but it is quite expensive though + you will need some big alloys

I was thinking of it but ive just gone for the 312mm brake conversion with ebc disc's and ferrodo ds2500 pads and it can put your head through the windscreen when you brake hard. its a lot cheaper and fits under 16 inch wheels the porsche ones might be overkill

thanks duffman, i'll email venom and see if they have a kit suitable for the 1.8T FR, maybe it is a little bit of overkill, but the plan for my car was to get the braking and handling as good as it can be before touching the engine power side of things, i prefer a car that handles well to a really powerful one, knowing that i have a good suspension and braking set up in the car will make me more confident when driving fast, hmmm that sounds a bit stupid reading that back! going by venoms website the porsche kit is designed to run with 17" wheels and my car has factory 17s so shouldn't be a worry there, i'm not ready to go out and part with any cash just yet so i'm still open to opinions and other options
