Hi guys,
I picked up a 2001 black Mk3 Ibiza Cupra on Tuesday as a car for the missus to drive to work when she starts her new job in a week (and also for me to drive at the weekends:D )

I was told by the previous owner that it needed a coil pack replacing. Is this something I can do fairly easily?
I've done a bit of reading on here about coil pack failure and I'm not so sure that they're at fault as the engine management light isn't on (assuming it works!). The car drives fairly well apart from being jerky at low revs particularly when cold and also hesistates a couple of times at the top of the rev range.
Does anyone know if Halfords stock the coil packs as I can't get to the dealer today and would like to have a play tomorrow.

I was wondering if it's worth changing the spark plugs as I don't know when they were last done? Can anyone recommend if it's worth doing this and also what plugs to go for?

It had a main dealer service beginning of this year (details are at home so will check dates / mileage later) and then cam belt / water pump a month or so later.

What else do you recommend should be done?

plugs.... dealers only do what's in the schedule, and the plugs may or may not have been changed at 40k, and not since.

Will do!

Made a start earlier after going to halfords on the way home from work only to find that the plug spanner I'd bought was too big :redface:
Quick rush down to Wickes (as halfords is closed and I want to make an early start tomorrow) and I've just bought a socket set and set of allen keys (I do have a bit of a tool fetish.)
Plan tomorrow is to get the plugs in then a serious washing session on the Ibiza first then my Navara and the missus's Octavia as that's going back at the end of the week.

Plugs now fitted. Easy enough except the one underneath the pipe on the rhs which was a biatch until I removed the clamp and moved it out the way :)
Been out for a test drive and the car seems much better. I'm going to order myself a vagcam cable so I'll do some logging when I've got it to see if there is a problem with one of the coils (I certainly can't see any evidence at the moment).

I am well pleased with this car (so far). I wondered how it would compare to my old LCR and so far it certainly doesn't disappoint.
The LCR is a better compromise of performance and comfort, but for sheer fun I think the ibiza is better :D
