well guys, i've my one way ticket booked to germany so I think i'l be selling up soon... if anyone is interested feel free to pm me for details

Well it's been along time since i've been active on here!

Never sold that car after all so i thought I would update this thread.
I sort of lost interest in the car when I came back. And during my final year of uni I had very little time to spend looking after the car so it started to roughen up a bit. With uni out of the way and the masters degree in the bag I set about giving the car a makeover.

I sold off a lot of parts, body kit wheels sound system etc.
While the car was getting painted I saw a set of wheels advertised that where local to me and at good enough money. So picked them up and split them ready for a refurb.
They where 5x114 so I got the bolt holes drilled out to accommodate wobble bolts

I got the car back home at about 6pm on the night before GTINI Castlewellan so had a mad panic getting the car cleaned and wheels fitted for the next morning. Then I hit a problem. The wheels didn’t sit right. The fronts were tucking and the rears poking a lot more than I had calculated. With the rear wheels catching the arches I decided to raise the rear 20mm in order to get it down the road so I could see the show.

After a mad week of work and house moving I decided to tackle the wheel fitment issue. I removed the wheels and measured them to find that the wheels where et17 rears and et58 fronts when then should have been et37 rears and et38 fronts. I became obvious that someone had change the front and rear wheel centres around in the past when changed the offsets. I really should have checked this before I rebuilt them but I was in a mad panic to get it done. But lesson learned for the next time.
So split the wheels again and changed the centres around.
The wheels are sitting much better now and pretty much how I thought they would have day one

I took the car down to the weight bridge to get a level surface to set the suspension height. So the car is sitting exactly how I want it for the mean time.

Well time for a long overdue update.
First things first, i gave the car a full service. Decided to fit a ITG filter that I got at handy money while I was at it.
The rear shocks final gave up after several year of abuse so I got a new pair of Biltsteins fitted.
Old verses new!

Then I ordered a list of new parts from Dave at SERE.
This included K1 grill
Cupra Pillars
Cupra R rear apron
So on the evening before Titanic Dubs I decided to start fitting the new parts.
Started with the grill:
Old grill

New K1 grill:

Then started on the pillars. The B pillars where a piece of cake!
Old vrs new:

C-Pillars on the other hand where a pain in the ass as they include the complete rear handle. It ended up getting dark half way through doing the first one so I did the second the next morning before going up the road to Titanic Dubs. I was in a bit of a hurry so I didn’t get any pictures.

Here is how it looked at Titanic Dubs:

The car will be going into winter mode soon. In the mean time here is the list of plans I have:
Get rear apron painted
Get exhaust to fit new rear apron
EGR delete
EGR cooler delete
Remap
Split wheels-polish dishes and rebuild with new bolts
Split head lights and taillights, clean our all the dirt and reseal them all back up again.
And a few other wee things when I get time/money for it!

Car of two halves for me, quite like the back but the front really isn't my thing at all, bit too Max Power for my liking.

Each to their own but as long as you like it, fair play to you for daring to be different.

For some reason I didn't look at page 2 of the thread so I didn't see you'd ditched the crazy front end styling

Another wee update. Got my Curpa R valance and new exhaust fitted last week.

EGR delete and EGR cooler delete is here ready to bolt on. So I will hopefully get that done along with refurbishing the lights over Christmas.
Wheels are lying here split again so need to get them cleaned up before the good weather comes again too.

Also if anyone knows of any Cupra's that are getting broke let me know. I am looking for some calipers and carriers and maybe a few other wee bits
