Just walk away and start again. On Saturday you were saying they would fit a new unit on Monday and you would have it on Tuesday, now it's being fitted on Thursday. You are being spun a line.

The second mechatronics unit won't be different to the first but it will have wasted more time.

You say there is a 14 day cooling off period. It ends on Saturday.

If you let this go on you will be writing about it for months and by the time it is fixed you will regret it getting it fixed, hate the car and want shot of it.

the thing is mate im screwed eitherway, ive tried cancel my aagreement and i cant, i spoke to seat finance and i cant withdraw from my contract untill im a 3rd way through it, and my solicitor says the same thing, its the type of contract im on :/ so im just putting up with having no car and waiting for it be fixed unfortunatly

right what i have done i have rang seat uk again today and spoken to the manager there, and he has informed me that they have ordered a new mechatronics unit, they are hoping its here by tomorrow, and they can get me in my car by thursday, i have said to them i dont want anymore messing around i just want everything sorted, i have also spoken to him about other ppls dsg problems and he said they happen quite common, but he says there fixed easily ? so i asked the question arnt they going ever correct there faults, and he said yes when they get enough complaints lol so thats that doesnt look like theres much hope of me getting a new car like they said in the beginning :/ i just hope when i get my boc back its running smooth and never fails on me again

right seat customer care is an outsourced company , they are middle people between you and seat uk
they know nothing about seats or what even a mechatronic unit is or does.
take what they say with a pinch of salt , all they are doing is filtering calls and replying to make you happy.
from my experience they are totally clueless and have no idea what they are talking about.

are you sure? looks like there is a new eu directive that changes it so you have a 14 day cooling off period even if you sign the papers on the premises.

tried everything mate the dealers wont even let me reject the car because they have got to have a chance fix it even without the 14 day cooling off period, which for somereason isnt involved in my case ??

Oh the irony, the chap who sold us our Boc sent me a text day before yesterday asking if I was still happy with my car PMSL! I want to reply but it would be such a long text that I would wear out my thumbs

Rejecting the car will cost someone money so the dealer will ALWAYS tell you that you cannot reject it (same with the finance company). If you ASK the dealer he will always say no. You must TELL the dealer that you are rejecting it.

You were told you would have your car back when the mechatronics unit was replaced the first time, you were told you would have it back on Tuesday, you were told you would have a NEW car on Wednesday, now you are told you will have yours back on Thursday. Do you see a pattern here?

take a look at this,

Your legal rights
The Sale of Goods Act 1979 sets out several rules outlining what buyers can expect when buying goods – including cars.

A car must be of satisfactory quality, which means
• A car must meet the standards a reasonable person would expect to be satisfactory, taking into account how it was described by the seller and how much it cost
• This covers factors including the appearance, integrity, safety and durability of the car
• It should be free from defects, unless pointed out prior to purchase

Dealers may be considered liable for faults present when the car was sold, but came to light later on. They are not responsible for general wear and tear, breakdowns during regular use or problems resulting from the driver’s misuse or damage.

A car must also be as described, meaning:
• The car must match any verbal or written descriptions provided by the dealer about the car, including adverts
• It should have all the features included in the advert, and they should work properly, unless the buyer has been told otherwise

Cars should also be reasonably fit for any normal purpose, and suitable for any other purpose the buyer informs the dealer of. For example, a dealer should not sell a small hatchback to tow a caravan.

These are basic rights afforded to buyers of goods, irrespective of other warranties, breakdown cover or guarantees supplied by the dealer. Similarly, descriptions such as ‘Sold as Seen’ don’t make the dealer exempt from these legal obligations.

Dealers who carry the logos of trade bodies such as Motor Codes or OFT Approved will have committed to maintaining the highest standards.

Refunds or repair
Refunds are possible but are often considered a last resort by dealers.
• How much of a refund you can claim depends on how long you’ve owned the car, and the amount of mileage covered
• Your entitlement to a refund diminishes the longer you keep the car, although you can still ask for faults to be rectified
• You can ask for your part exchange to be returned, or request the cash value if the car is no longer in the dealer’s possession
• You can ask for a repair or replacement up to six years after purchase as long as you can prove the car was faulty at the time of sale
• You may need to get a written report from an expert, such as a mechanic or inspector from the AA or RAC, to prove a fault exists

have a GOOD read......

to be honest unless the people who have had problems complain collectivly SEAT dont see they have a problem with their product or their customer service.

They are the worst company i have ever dealt wth , i got put through to a woman in customer care and i was complaining about my spark plugs failing all of the time , i might as well have been talking marsian , she didnt have a clue what i was talking about , i put it all in writing and had it recored delivered and they dont even acknowledge the fact you are complaining.

i asked numerous times to speak directly to the technical department , which i was told NO , i asked for logs and data they had taken from my car they said NO.
They are a total joke imho.

I would give SEAT and your dealer a chance to fix the car. Pick it up on Thursday p.m and enjoy driving it. Don't put yourself through the stress of taking legal action if it is just the mechatronics unit. The car is under warranty it is just very unfortunate that you have had to use it within a couple of days. The car is worth waiting for....

Great news BUT - it's all still been done by phone and you have no proof of offer.

I would go to the dealer - or ring the guy back that you spoke to and ask for all of this in writing
