Halfords Fully Synth Oil....

I changed my oil last night and replaced it with Mobil 1. I couldn't be arsed shopping around so got it from Halfords for £45 for 5L . No idea what was in the car before but I'm happier knowing it's got decent oil in it now.

Quantum Gold from VW = £27.75 + vat RRP

I can get it for £19.50 (+ vat) = £23 from my local TPS (www.tradepartsspecialists.co.uk) in Derby

actually i dont think they do. under seat leon they only list fuchs. so far as i can see anyway.

No I'm not a trader, but the local TPS has got a trade cash account

GSF have stopped stocking Quantum once the shops have sold what they had in stock, that's it, they won't be restocking

VW is just as cheap for it though.

i always get my mobil1 from costco... its £23. i know you have to buy 2 but its always good to have some hanging around

Went to GSF this morning to see if they had any Quantum left... .nope

However, they did have the Fuchs stuff they're now selling instead....

Fuchs Titan Supersyn SL 5W-40 (Fully Synth) = £15.20 (4L) + £6.70 (1L) = £21.90 (5L) + vat - 10% discount = £23.15

Should do the job nicely

They also do 10W-40 for Em's Ibiza = £10.70 +vat - discount = £11.31

Ok well had a full oil change today at local F1 Garage..oh my god what a mare, after a 3 hour wait and all of my oli commin out after they'd done it, they recomended me gettin some super charge to stol that annoying ticking when the engine starts, and yup it seems to do the job so far. but did only get it today

As for the annoying ticking, that's the Variable Valve Timing.... I think!

What's this 'supercharge' stuff all about ??

Mine only took me an hour to do myself, and only cost me £46 to change the oil, filter and spark plugs.....

Sure.. £10 and lots of apologies, totally redeemed themselves, they used stuff on my lower engine to break down the oil that spilled out (cant think what its called.. gunk I think?) and then jet washed the whole bay 4 me (careful to watch electrics)


This is the F1 garage in Peterborough, they even said sorry just incase the oil dripped onto my drive, however that aint an issue just yet.. Still looking at getting it done.

Supercharge well its like treacle in a tin, thickens up the oil to help maintain pressure and stuff, keeps engine quiet and also muffles out ticking.

Any idea what the ticking is then, as it’s only their very slightly now for about 3 seconds?

£10 for an oil change ?!?

I'm guessing that they forgot to put the sump plug back in after draining the old oil out.... hence why all the new oil emptied itself onto the garage floor !!!
