AmD have got a deal on coilovers at the moment, add to that uprated ARB's and should be your budget with much improved handling - set of 10mm spacers on the rear are meant to help as well :)

Dont forget to factor in fitting costs and alignent check. If you want better handling id look at good ARB'S front and rear first before lowering it.Lowering a car doesnt always mean it will handle better. The roll bars make such a difference to the LCR though.:)

Do you want to lower the car or get better handling as per the title?

If it's handling rather than cosmetic / aesthetic mod's then start with a pair of Neuspeed Anti-roll bars, fits inside your budget and helps handling more than any other mod I can think of

Just lowering won;t help handling as much, particularly on that budget

AmD offer is something around £435 mark for AP coilovers - including fitting and 4 wheel alignment - http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=195519

ARB's would be a better starting point in terms of handling :)
