I have just phoned Seat UK Customer Care and they did not know which figure is correct and advised me to speak to my local dealer!!! Surely the dealers get their information from these people!!!

Both my demo & our showroom IBIZA FR TDI has no carbon fibre inserts it all gloss black, and as far as we know, 1st year tax for these has been dropped to £0, happy days
Can i just start by saying SEAT UK customer care are about as useful a chocolate teapot. Both occasions i have called them to ask a reasonable question about my car they have said "don't know".
Car emissions do change as cars get tested whenever the manufacturer makes a slight revision to the car. The test is not 100% full proof so small variations do happen, however it only affects the cars built after that test. (i am not sure if it effects cars ordered before the emissions test but built after the emissions test). However a manufacture should honour what is advertised and i would advise complaining if they don't. The law will not change but you should get some compensation for the extra expense.
The TDI FR (which is wonderful) has emissions of less than 130 g/km CO2 which means it is exempt from showroom tax, however the dealer will still have to pay for the first years road tax disc. (which is always included in the list price of a new car).
The new showroom tax is an additional tax created by Mr Darling and targets cars over £130 g/KM CO2 and can cost up to an additional £950. Some people refer to this showroom tax as first years tax but you still have to pay the first years road tax disc cost on top.
In the case of the FR and all other vehicles that fall into bands A to D, there is no duty at all to pay in the first year, after that the FR is £90 a year as stated above.
The worst case are vehicles that come into Band M, this now attracts an annual duty of £425. Under the new scheme your first years duty will be £950, effectively a "New Car Tax" of £525.....OUCH
I spotted the tax disc on the 5 dr demo at the dealer's had a £ 120 tax disc at the end of March, so asked was it a petrol as I thought they had a diesel FR demo coming in.
The reply was that it must be a mistake as its the diesel so they would check. They confirmed that the emissions are 123g/km and the price list & website would be updated for April.
An email to fleet sales was replied with "this was an unfortunate error in our literature".
After searching for 3 weeks Cupra net is the first mention of the change on the web - is it a monumental c... up or do UK cars miss out on something the continentals get?
I see from my various searches that the battery is in the boot on the diesel??? is it very big?
Just stumbled across the discussion about the cost of road tax for the new FrTdi which caught my attention. I ordered mine on 30th March and paid £35 tax, picked it up on 6th April. However, I've just checked and the tax disc in the window and it shows £123.50 paid.
I'm not very impressed to say the least as I was sold the car being Band C tax!
I will be calling the salesman first thing tomorrow morning to vent my frustration.....
Just spoke with the salesman who sold me the car and he gave me some **** and bull story about the conversion from left to right hand drive might be the reson for the difference in figures....
I then rang SEAT customer care and explained again. The guy I spoke to confirmed that the figures on his system state 119g for the FR TDi and therefore tax band C. He couldn't give me an answer about why it might have changed to 123g, but has assured me he will look into it and call me back.
