nothing, it just means the 2nd fillament will be yellow, ie: if you flash someone out at night it will be blue xenon light and then yellow main beam..

When i had my dipped beam HIDs on my 1.4 i never used my main beams again as the light intensity is better than any main beam i'd used before

The 2nd filament built into the same unit/bulb thing??

Yes, hence the name - twin filliment bulbs, but getting H4 dipped beam will suffice, whereas the GTI has seperate bulbs

How hard to fit then dave?
I'm thinking of getting some of those too

Takes about 30 minutes all in to bolt the ballasts to the inner wings and tidy the cables up, remove old bulbs and put the HIDs in and wire them all up.

piece of p1ss really

You learn something new everyday, I didnt know they were twin filament bulbs. Think I may have to get a set using that link that was posted earlier. Im just worried about any dial/clock issues I may get.

Do you think dipped beam by suffice on B roads??

Intensity is better yes, but they are still pointing in the same direction. High beams point high, so you can see a lot further than with just low, HID or not. I can see a massive difference in my low beam light, but I still use my high beams purely so I can see where I'm going!

Yes but do you have HIDs on your car?

Just recieved a set of Xenon off fleabay for 35quid delivered, 6000k in H7, fitted them and they look amazing! If you look at the packaging they are all pretty much the same boxes just different covers! My mate has paid 175 and his box is the same as mine except mine is white! I had Philips Blue Vision in before these and i wont be putting halogen bulbs back in! - Oh and plus I have had no OBC errors either!

Right you guys have convinced me, HID's it is.

Same here. Did everyone have this problem or just the select few? I know some peoples problems miraculously 'fixed' themselves lol.
It will be just my luck to get the HID's and have this issue pop up.

i want a set of hid's but unsure weather cheap ones are too cheap... ie plastic mounting seats and poor ballasts? unsure

I thought that mate but in 3 cars I have had three sets ranging in prices and my previous 2 sets are still working with a minimum 1 year usage on them (i know the current owners) and this set seems to be no different in packaging and quality...

I know I have a 1.4 but I just wondered if I would get any dial issues, mainly the trip resetting as im watching my mileage just now.

Thats what I thought, but Ive heard alot of good things about the cheap ones off ebay. They are cheap so they are like replaceable, would be different if you bought an expensive set.

Have you got a link to the place you got them from??

Well my HID's (Diane Shop off ebay, £40) come with metal brackets, and take about 10 seconds to fully warm up I'd say. They flicker ever so slightly (you really have to be looking to see it) for the first 30 seconds, then they are fine. I put it down to them still warming up. Granted, I haven't had them long, but I see no problems with them so far.

Oh and with the flickering I don't mean like constant flickering, just once or twice. And you can turn them on and drive off straight away, they are just a bit dim until they warm up fully.

Are HID's just plug and play pretty much. I really dont want any hassle having to run wires here, there and everywhere.

Also should any MOT place be able to adjust the beam etc on it using the little white dial things on the back of the headlight??
