Header tank gunk

Looked in the header tank today and noticed what can only be described as a nice scum line around the water line, the tank is also stained brown.

Oil cap is fine so im putting it down to all the nasty chemical crap in the antifreeze, is this scum anything to be worried about?

only time i've had brown scum in header tank was when the head gasket went on my old rover.

and you topped up with the proper vag coolant?
i think its designed to go brown if any other is added to it!

Ive not done anything to the car, was like it when I bought it - though it has a full seat service history. Think its worth flushing the coolant system?

Sometime ago took my car to a non-VAG garage for a free winter check/service and after the service I noticed that the coolant was brown.

Went back to the garage and they said they had topped up the coolant, but as it turned out to they mixed blue with red coolant.

Anyway I drained it and filled it back up with some G12 from Halfrauds as I had read somewhere that if you mixed coolant it would do damage to your car.
