Heated TT seats

Afternoon all

Anyone know how to wire in a set of TT seats?

Picked up a set for 150 golden nuggets today

You'll just need a +ve and -ve from the cigarette lighter, with a switch somewhere.

Or do it from the battery with a fuse in the cable.

I will do the cigarette lighter option, as these have different settings not just on and off I there a way of getting a switch like that?

i cant find any info on how to do this.

the heated part has 5 wires coming off the plug. 3 brown one back/white and one black/yellow.

i assume the brown are earths but no idea on the rest...

and also as said before these are temperature adjustable, or was that just a fancy switch?

could i simply get these to operate on/off and not on a scale of 1-6 etc?

would i need to run a fuse to these?

on another note im fitting a boost gauge and could really do with knowing which wire behind the lights switch panel is the ignition live. i want it to come on with the ignition and not the headlights

I think maybe the wires will be:
Brown = earths
Black/white = negative/positive
Yellow = Signal?

Just a guess.

the white/black is one cable, as is the black/yellow

this is all so confusing.

you only need a positive and an earth/negative right?

so one of those is probably the positive and maybe the other one is temperature control?

Silly me.

Did any Ibiza's ever come with heated seats? You could use the wiring loom from the Ibiza seats to wire to the TT seats, before swapping the connectors?

I'm sure there should be an easier way though, but it's an option.

I doubt it will be as simple as fitting a switch to operate your heated seats. I am pretty sure the Audi would be fitted with a module to control the heaters and there will be a sensor built into the seats to measure the temperature.
If you simply apply power to the heating elements in the seat you have no way of controlling the temperature. They will just get hotter and hotter until either the seat or your rear end gets burned.
Try asking on the TT forums for a wiring diagram.

No Ibizas came with heated seats afaik

Have put a post up on the TT forum but don't hold out much hope, can't see me getting these working

Dont forget, TT's come with side airbags, where as some ibizas dont. So some of the connectiong will be for that too.

Yeh I know about that air bags, mine has them anyway but the connectors will be different

does anyone know if i can use a battery charger to supply electric to these so i can try and play around with some options?

Did the TT seats bolt straight in ?

Nope you have to make brackets which I haven't done yet.

Have got the heating element working tho, just need to wire in a button and fit them

basically its a variable resistor like a radio dial. it variesa the amount of resistance put through the circuit so the more you resist the less power is going to the heating elements

That makes sense, although at the moment I would say the seat isn't really hot enough anyway and would want to increase it rather than decrease.

Maybe it isn't coming on full wack like I thought it might
