in my case was the release bearing and the pressure plate, i really am glad i bit the bulliet and did it. im also really glad im a mechanic... £300 lol! i need to start my own buisness i think..

I have a 2000 Ibiza S 1.4. I had my clutch problems around 6 months ago and was told my pedal box and clutch needed repalcing, had this work done but the clutch cable wasnt changed. I was told I needed to get this done aswell or else my pedal box will break again. I have only just brought a clutch cable but am wondering whether or not I can fit this myself as a garage quoted £100+VAT which I dont really have at the moment.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

it hooks onto the pedal, goes through the bulkhead under the wipers and hooks into the clutch release arm. its actually really simple, just depends if you know a Right handed spanner from a left handed spanner really.

for parts im right lucky i get them at trade prices like what dealers pay like what VAG charge them cos local dealer is my neighbour still trys to rob be on labour so will do most things myself but some stuff i cant or wont like the wishbone bushes on the mk4 cos they're a PAIN!!! was 60 to do them :)

My clutch is also really stiff but it has not long been replaced. I hear it could just be the cable so I think I will just get that changed and see if that helps.

check your reciept kiwi, make sure they did replace the release bearing, mine was seized. also a good mechanic like me will put clutch grease on the input shaft. that makes alot of difference.
