i bought my mk3 in march and it was previously a learner car... when i first drove it the clutch seemed really heavy... as time has gone on it appears to be getting heavier and hard to find the bite point, is this common for all ibizas?? please reply ;)

I'm having the same problem, look down for the thread called 'stiff clutch', should be on next page, to find solutions. I've not tried any yet.

Well I had this on my 1.4, thought it was the clutch cable, had that replaced with no joy, in the end i had the clutch replaced and it was all good. However 99% of the time it's the cable. at around 40,000 / 50,000 miles the teflon coating inside the cable breaks down and causes friction on the cable which disturbs the smooth sliding.

cheers craig and tbc, that would explain it then, my car has done 46k now, i bought it with 45k on and it was like that then, so must have happened earlier in its life, will look on previous page for more advice ;)

My clutch has started creaking now when I use it, I think I'm gonna take it in tomorrow. Everything seems to be going wrong with it at the moment, I didn't think VW engineering was supposed to do that at 36,000!?

just so u know i have the 1.4 and my cluth is realy heavy it has 41,000 miles.. but recently when its really wet like raining alot it just all of a sudden gets really really light whats thats all about????
