i personally wouldnt bother with either. You have to be really careful with what you get.
Look up the categories in google.. will show you what they mean.

i see nothing wrong buing salvage as long as you repair it properly on the cheap and you know what you are doing.

i must remind you that a cat "c" salvage has to go for an inspection after youve finished repairing the car which costs around £29.
only the will you be allowed to apply for a logbook to tax the car.

insurance companies will pay you less than what you think its worth in the event of a claim.

there are a couple of people on ebay breaking leons and toledos which share the same part.
try this company below

ALSO TRY EURO CAR PARTS.

Its a Seat forum...so OBVIOUSLY go for Honda. Honestly, go for a Seat, Type R's - too many, and it's a european brand so might be able to source parts locally etc. But i don't know jack, never done that before, so i really im posting a reply for no real reason.

Issue on buying a car on the register (write off register that is) was talked about recently. The only reason to take the 'I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole' is if you don't already know someone in the trade that you trust to put it right properly. If you think you can buy it cheap, buy a load of spares parts from German & Swedish or ECP, give them to a garage and say 'fix that', you're asking for a big bill and loads of grief. Walk away, because it could very well turn into a money pit. As said, once put back together, if done properly, you will have a perfectly good motor, probably better than something straight off a mass production line. But it won't be worth a car not on the register, maybe not even worth what its cost you.

On the other hand, if you know someone who's experienced, have a source of cheap (and ideally genuine parts), make sure you have it properly inspected and priced up so you know EXACTLY what needs doing, and fill your boots.

A friend of mine has done very well from buying smashed motors, then using the expert services of someone we know (Doug the Tug!) to put them right, and sell them on. And I mean properly, not ringing them!

But he got caught out about 6 months back buying a BMW 540i estate that had a heavy front end smash. Registered as Cat C, went to look at it, knew what he was getting into and bought it. But he forgot his own rule (i.e. to never assume anything, check it all over) - once it was on the jig to be pulled straight, they realised it had previously had a very heavy smash on a back quarter that had been badly repaired, so its cost him double what it should have done.

Good luck.

dont touch the civic.
the leon looks pretty much medium fron and light rear.
the car would need to go on a computer jig to get it as straight as possible.

try to get as many front end bits as possible, preferably from one car so as to avoid any compatability issues.
nice colour on the leon though.

to be honest if the car wont start please`dont buy.
if you still want it you will have to kick the seller where it hurts and beat the price down to £1395 including towing or walk away.
buy yourself an original cupra as there seems to be alot more wrong with the car.
REMEMBER, THE SELLER ALWAYS KNOWS MORE INFO ABOUT THE CAR THAT HE WONT WANT TO DISCLOSE TO YOU.

of course the cupra wont start! Silly question really, have you seen the damage properly? I can see it from 1 picture. Well youve brought it now

The engine is well pushed back, youve even got the timing belt cover all cocked up. You need that car towing to a garage and need the engine pulling out to check it over. looks like the rad is gone, the starter motor looks damaged and all the engine mounts are probably bent anyway by the looks of it.

So my advise, get the engine out and get the bodywork sorted out, new panels sprayed etc, then concentrate on the engine, new starter, cambelt etc. If your turning it over you may damage it more.

and by the way you will never knock them down on price, perhaps a few quid but not to 1395!

The best thing for that car is to strip it and sell the parts off individually, you will get more than 2600 for it that way. If you spend whatever on getting it on the road, it will not be the bargain you hoped for. If you want to trade it in, there arent many places that will have it off you and it will be like selling a brick private. Unless you sell it for peanuts.

I reckon that would cost at least £3k to get back on the road, labour included. Thats if you dont find anything else wrong.

Good luck with the repairs to the cupra, it does seem like there loads of work to be done. Maybe worth looking at fitting a Cupra R front seeing as most of the front is smashed.

Thanks for all the advice i paid 2100 for the car it is going to be here on monday i had a good look at the car and it seems quite nice apart from the damage the engine mountings have bent and i think the reason it doesnt turn is cos of the starter motor i have parts for the car like front panel with both rads , tailgate and a passengers wiing there is no other damage than the front of the car and the tailgate all i need to buy is two lights bonnet bumper and a wing i mean for 2100 delivered i think its a bargain oh and once its fixed i will show it to you guys even if it needs a new engine i will still call it a bargain at 2100 cos the car once fixed is worth almost 7000 a 52 facelift cupra ...

But where has that figure of £7000 come from? Parkers? Autotrader? Its no good comparing to that because they don't account for the fact the car is on the Write-Off register, and no matter how well its been fixed, it puts people off and knocks the value hard.
