got back off hols to find the immobiliser wouldnt let me start the car(mk1 leon cupra) . My local garage couldnt retreave the code so it has gone to seat . they also said they couldnt retreave the code and said i needed a new immobiliser pod in the dash @ 200 quid plus fitting plus coding ( 400ish) so i rang today to see if that sorted it and now they tell me this new immob wont talk to the engine ECU so they say i need a new ECU @ 500 quid which will erase my expencive custom code remap . I think they are just takin the p
Please HELP......

now theyve rang saying that it may be my remaps fault that it wont let them into the ecu? should i call jbs who installed it?

well if they are blaming the remap then call JBS.

but i would say they are just blaming someone else because they need something to blame.

but if it worked fine to begin with then why would it suddenly not work now?

yes, call JBS, also just out of curiosity, do u not have the spare key?
On my car the spare will start the engine cos there is a transponder in it..

called jbs and they say it shouldnt have owt to do wi it and im waitin for seat to call back so im stuck with the 1 ltr micra

Caveo, when you switch on the ignition do the lights all come on as normal, the engine cranks, but will not fire?

My dad had this on his Mk4 Golf, we got around it by leaving the ignition switched on for several (no more than 10) minutes without trying to start, then switched off and started as normal, since then it has been fine.

VW mechanic had never heard of this and was suggesting new instruments, re-programming keys etc.

If you are not happy with the dealer then go to someone else, sounds expensive to me. I never use dealers as good ones are few and far between.

JBS have good knowledge and could prob do the repairs anyway.

now they are telling me they cant just bypass it but they have used a company that can wipe the codes off my ECU and are calling them so my remap may be saved

Hi Caveo,

I have just been speaking to you.

The mapping will not cause the issue with the immobiliser, like I said I will have a quick nosey to find out what the dealer might be doing.

To help you a little further if worst come to worst I can offer an immobiliser defeat so the engine will continue to run after fire up but then your call will have no immobiliser and could be stolen fairly easily if you do not have an aftermarket alarm and immobiliser system fitted.

Regards
Mike

how much would this cost and how the hell would i get the car to you?

Beacuse you already have the Custom-Code mapping it would be £250+VAT

All we would really need is the ECU to do this.

Mike

so why are seat tellin me they cant do this and i need a new ECU?
p.s. is your rollin road workin yet?

give me a call in the morning and ill c wots going on with seat . i just want my car back

good luck with this mate.. not a nice thing to come home from holiday to find!

Takes the pi$$ that seat will charge that much for the immobiliser fitting and setting up when it doesnt even sort the problem.. Am sure the boys at JBS will be able to get it sorted :)
